Andrew didn’t put up any huge scoring numbers on Thursday night, but his energy and effort was infectious as DeLaSalle took down Oakland Tech in their season opener. Provided a huge spark late in the first half as he drew a pair of charges in the lane, while also scoring a put-back bucket off a teammate’s missed free throw. Andrew is a poised finisher off two feet around the rim, and defensively has that Islander toughness with the quickness to move his feet laterally and pressure the ball hard.

Andrew is a true two-way threat for D1 Minnesota Gold . He brings that Islander toughness to the defensive end, and was pressuring the ball hard the length of the game against Minnesota Heat Academic. He also stepped in to draw a pair of charges in that game. Offensively his hustle helped him pick up a handful of good looks at the basket, as he was cutting hard off the ball and sprinting the floor in transition. On the ball he showed he can get into a mid-range pull-up off of one or two dribbles effectively.

Andrew was super fun to watch on Saturday with the way he flies around the floor and is always giving full effort. He found major success in pressuring opposing ball handlers to force turnovers and then go and finish at the other end. He is lighting fast and had no problems outrunning opponents in transition. He had active hands on defense, constantly poking balls free and deflecting passes as well. The DeLaSalle sophomore was also not afraid to convert through contact in the paint. I really admired Apiagyei’s energy and effort.

DeLaSalle has a nice group of 2025 guards ready to step into bigger roles next season, and Andrew could be one of them. Against Real Phenom he was making plays on both ends as he brings that DeLaSalle toughness to the defensive side of the game. He used his quickness to pressure the ball, but also had the toughness to defend against bigger wings when needed. Andrew did a nice job of handling the ball under pressure, and was often times able to use his speed to get by his initial defender and give Real Phenom a numbers advantage going forward. Had a few tough finishes at the rim but was at his best as a playmaker getting his teammates involved.
