Last weekend while running with the NJ Shoreshots at the Jersey Jam Fest, Niu proved that his athleticism and agility are vastly underrated. Niu thrived in the open court by pushing the rock or by filling a lane. In both roles, Niu navigated his way to the rim for finishes through contact. He also capped off a couple of fast breaks with dunks. Niu got to the rack off the dribble on half-court possessions too. When Niu was not scoring in transition or off dribbles drives, he was popping triples from all around the arc and knocking down mid-range jumpers. College coaches will love Niu’s high IQ and enormous wingspan.

#46…This athletic wing has made a huge impression during his first year at Phelps and recently picked up an offer from Radford. If you watch Niu play, it is easy to see why college coaches love this prospect. Niu is a legitimate 6’7′ with a 6’10” wingspan. He owns a high IQ, runs the floor like a deer and is a lights out 3-point shooter. His polished footwork allows Niu to score in close too. Plus, Niu will catch opponents by surprise with his ability to get to the hole off two or three dribbles. In short, he is ideal prospect for the modern-day college game.

9p (3/5 3P) vs Shabach
-Developing young shooter with great positional size that came in cold off the bench to lace three 3s in short order. Niu moves to space well and is shot ready, down in a stance when the ball arrives for him to get off a clean look before the defense can rotate. Niu made the right read to keep the ball moving and usually found an open teammate on the opposite side of the floor to shift the defense. Defensively he’s usually in the right spot but will need to put on more weight and improve the lateral quickness to become a more versatile defender that can guard multiple spots. Intriguing name to track in 2027.
