With Cowell struggling in the early portion of the game, Rust stepped up from the backcourt to score a team-high 17 points and help keep Pingry in the game. The junior guard was aggressive looking to create his own shot, showing smooth pace and a crafty handle while attacking the rim and playing well off two feet from inside the paint. He showed a smooth stop-and-pop game in the midrange before later confidently stepping into a pullup 3 in transition. Rust has solid length and fluidity for his position, and worked hard to keep the ball in front of him defensively. He should be a hot commodity among high-academic D3 programs over the next year with a chance at a scholarship if he can work on his body and show growth as a lead guard.

Ryan is a 6’2 Point Guard who can score on all three levels. During his sophomore campaign, Ryan averaged 11ppg, 4rpg and 4apg. Has unlimited range, strong dribbling skills, can create his own shot and has the ability to create shots for his teammates. Ryan led Pingry defensively as well , averaging 1.4spg. He gets it done on both ends of the court. Division 1 opportunities should be on the table for Ryan very soon !

Rust has the potential to breakout this season with his ability to stretch the floor. The 6’2 guard has a clean release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Rust moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups in the half court. He is an underrated defender and finds his open teammates in the half court. Rust is a sharpshooting guard prospect who should torch the nets from distance this season.

showed a lot of good offensive intangibles throughout the course of this game against Newark East Side. Rust scored the ball in a multitude of ways that saw him attack the basket on dribble drives and finish in different ways around the basket, flash as a cutter off the ball, as well as knock down a couple open threes. Rust was also able to get to the free throw line a couple times.
