Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
A quintessential “program kid” for the Red Raiders, Chester has been biding his time and gradually working his way up the rotation since first suiting up on varsity as a sophomore. Now entrenched as a full-time starter for the first time as a senior, the lanky new-age forward should have plenty of opportunity to make up for lost time on the recruiting trail. Despite his height, Chester is most comfortable facing the basket from the perimeter, where he shows natural shooting touch out to the arc and flashes of passing feel that should reveal itself more with further reps. He’s an active defender with an enticing blend of length and mobility while showing improvement in recent viewings in using his size to establish an interior presence on the offensive end. Chester has always looked the part of a scholarship-level talent but could wind up looking like a steal should he slip to the small-college level or may be an intriguing option for a prep or JUCO looking to extend his developmental runway.

An often-unsung member of the Coatesville rotation, Chester has slowly developed his game within the program over the past few years. Now looking to be entrenched as a full-time starter for the first time, he looked comfortable and confident while showing an intriguing inside-out skillset at his size. Despite his height, Chester is most comfortable on the perimeter where he shows an effortlessly smooth shooting stroke with expanding versatility across different actions. He’s also able to sneak into soft spots for easy finishes with a developing feel for keeping the ball moving quickly and precisely. His blend of length and mobility make him a versatile frontcourt piece on the other end as he adds strength to be able to bang more inside. Chester is undoubtedly a gem for the small-college level with a chance to emerge onto the radar of scholarship-level programs if he makes a jump with added reps.

Flying under the radar on the 2024-25 Coatesville squad was this athletic and bouncy hybrid-forward. But the spring 2025 grassroots circuit proved to be Chester’s breakout stretch and we are willing to bet that stellar play continues here in June. With his length, agility, rim-to-rim speed and finishing skills, Chester thrives in transition. On half-court possessions, Chester scores by draining threes as well as in close via dives to cup, finishing from the dunker spot and crashing the offensive glass for put backs. Defensively, Chester is a plus prospect who can guard multiple positions and block shots.

It didn’t come with a large statistical output, but Chester came off the bench and flashed an intriguing skillset that’s certainly worth monitoring in the long-term. A developing inside-out presence in the frontcourt, he’s still most comfortable away from the basket as a floor-spacer out to the arc. He’s still extremely thin and thus struggles with physicality inside, but Chester looked to be more comfortable playing near the rim as a dumpoff threat or short-corner playmaker. There’s still a ways to go, but there aren’t a ton of prospects his size who move the way he does while also spacing the floor. Would be a gem for the small-college level, but could see him blossom late into a scholarship player given he’s still just 16 years old.
