WIAA/ WBCA June Jam: Friday's Mega Breakdown

You will not find a better event in the state of Wisconsin than the WIAA/ WBCA June Jam in terms of quality of: teams, college coach attendance, facilities housing all the games, and overall setup at the Champions' Center in Appleton. The Division 1 college coaches that were in the gym on Friday included: Duke, Purdue, Iowa State, Minnesota, Brown, Green Bay, Illinois State, Western Illinois, North Dakota State, Holy Cross, Drake, Eastern Illinois, and Milwaukee, just to name a few. Several D2 and D3 were in attendance to watch the plethora of talented players in the gym on Friday.   Let's breakdown some guys that stood out to me in the games I was able to take in on Friday in Appleton.    Foeckler stood out for his ability to quickly shoot and knock down threes in his game against Beaver Dam on Friday. Cooper can also get going in the scoring column as he able to convert midrange turnarounds with his fundamental and strong footwork. I was impressed by Foeckler's ability to finish athletically through and above defending players. The six-foot-four prospect finished with 11 points in a 50-47 victory.     Mahmoud was on absolute heater to start the afternoon session in Appleton. Noah was able to can five threes in helping his team prevail over a talented Beaver Dam squad. Mahmoud can shoot it off the bounce and is very efficient in stroke on catch and shoot opportunities. In addition to his hot shooting, Mahmoud was impressive on the glass, finishing with five rebounds, some of which led to extra offensive opportunities for his team. Noah led all Franklin scorers with 15 in their first game.     Yuenger is an intruging prospect due to his ability to play a few different positions on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Isaiah has shot the ball very well in the summer action I have viewed and continued this streak by knocking down two first half threes in Beaver Dam's matchup with Franklin. Yuenger does an excellent job of attacking the offensive glass, contesting shots at the rim, and finding a different gear when the game is on the line. The six-foot-four wing player finished with 13 points and a handful of rebounds.     It is not a matter of if, but when the division one offers will start coming in for the lengthy wing out of Beaver Dam. Ben had several low major/mid major d1 schools watching this matchup today, as he as ascended into one of the better prospects in the 2028 class. You will not find a much better player when Wittnebel is able to get to the mid range spots. Ben is extremely smooth and has advanced skills to efficently score from this area, and in general at all three levels. Wittnebel scored ten second half points in the first game, and narrowly missed a long range three point shot that would have tied the game at the horn. As Ben adds strength to his college frame, I would anticipate larger schools will begin to show interest in the prospect out of Beaver Dam.     [player_tooltip player_id='2140993' first='Xavier' last='Bezares'] is lightning quick, plain and simple. The six-foot-one senior uses his quick first step to get downhill in the flow of the Rocket offense to score and set up his temmates. Combined with his quickness, Bezares is a consistent and deadly three point shooter making him a matchup nightmare for opposing coaches. Bezares was able to play to these strengths despite dropping the game to De Pere, and finished with 11 points in the contest.     The rise of Cohen continues this spring and summer. Earlier in the club season, the six-foot-two junior picked up a D1 offer from Toledo, and impressed so much today, that he added his second offer from UWGB later in the evening. Cohen has really sured up his consistency from downtown since the conclusion of the high school season, as he drained five threes from deep range in his team's victory over Neenah. Silas in addition to his shooting, makes great decisions in PNR opportunities and attacks the basket with athleticism and efficiency. Cohen continues to be one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2028 class in the state of Wisconsin.     Luchetti suffered a brutal preseason injury prior to the start of the last season. Austin, who also competes with [program_tooltip program_id='2076033' first='Wisconsin' last='Playmakers'], has looked more athletic as more time has passed in his injury recovery. Luchetti was all over the floor in his team's convincing victory over Mukwonago on Friday afternoon. Austin has great footwork, explosive athleticism, and is extremely strong allowing him to score out of the post and the perimeter. Luchetti spent several minutes guarding talented [player_tooltip player_id='2508313' first='Evan' last='Ploeckelman'] and limiting him most of the game offensively. There were several d1s, d2s, and d3s viewing this matchup between Monona Grove and Mukwonago, as Luchetti picked up an offer from UWGB on Friday following his performance. Luchetti is without a doubt a player that can make a difference at the next level.     Austin's brother, Evan just keeps getting better, and has been pretty consistent this spring and summer in his play. Evan has a quick first step and can get red hot from the perimeter as he did in MG's matchup against a tough Mukwonago squad. Luchetti does a lot of little things for his team, taking charges, making the right reads with passes in transition, and keeping possessions alive on the glass. Luchetti will be one of the better juniors in the Badger Conference this year as Monona Grove looks to contend for a conference title.     [player_tooltip player_id='3173773' first='Blake' last='Lindstedt'], an absolute sniper from three. Lindstedt's ability to make threes from deep, locks him in as a great number two option for this upcoming season. Blake hit a half dozen triples in the game against Monona Grove off the bounce in PNR and in catch and shoot opportunities. Lindstedt will without a doubt shoulder the scoring load with Ploeckelman this season for the upstart Mukwonago squad.     Julien is just never out of control no matter what the defense throws at him. The six-foot-four prospect is a gifted scorer, can finish with crafty skills and athleticism, and has elite court vision when drawing extra defenders. Colin's patience is to be desired as he made perfect timing passes and pull-up jumpers in the half court and in transition. Several low major and mid major schools were in attendance on court five to take in Julien's diverse skill set for the Blue Dukes.     A great way to sum up Kolstad's game with one word is composure. Cam was impressive in his ability to stay composed despite some pretty gritty defense by Kimberly. Kolstad does a great job of reading screens in Marshfield's five out system by curling, back cutting, and slipping to the basket for easy buckets. Cam is a strong and crafty finisher that uses his body extremely well for his size. Kolstad scored from the paint, the midrange, and is a talented shooter from the perimeter. A handful of D3s were evaluating Kolstad who has a roster spot offer from UW-Stout thus far.     Krause is a great wing prospect for a pretty balanced, skilled, and athletic bunch from Kimberly High School. Krause embodies the culture Kam Cerroni is building for the Papermakers, as Alex is tough, does the extra things, and plays with a ton of physicality and energy. Krause had a great game in their second contest converting a baseline spin move, an and1 finish, and scoring in transition. The six-foot-five senior is a gifted volleyball player, but is a basketball player to monitor in the valley for his senior year.     McMullen flexed his #1 ranking in their game against Oak Creek on Friday. Max was outstanding attacking the basket with his shifty handle, shot it extremely well, and defended with urgency on the other end for the Spartans, and head coach Joe Rux. Max is so athletic and quick, and was dominant for Brook East on Friday finishing the game with 20 points, several rebounds and some eye popping assists. McMullen should garner a ton of attention the rest of the weekend from college coaches, and is a must watch player the rest of the summer.     Cannizzo was on fire in their game against Oak Creek. The six-foot-one guard had five triples en route to their victory over the Knights. Jonah does a great job reading screens in their offense, and is constantly hunting pop actions to get his shot off. Jonah was extremely efficient from deep and should be a player to monitor for d3s in the state moving forward the rest of the summer.     The best scoring output I viewed on Friday, Lenz poured in 37 points against a Bonduel team that qualified for state the last two seasons. Lenz is one of the most skilled players I have seen since the high school ended and truly could put out games like this on a nightly basis in the Bay Conference this upcoming season. Drew is elite from the midrange, probing to the basket, and knocking down shots from deep three point range. Lenz who competes with [program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro'], is a prospect that figures to pick up collegiate interest as he matures and continues to add to his game.     Wesenberg put on a show in this game as well finishing the game with 28 points in leading his team back from a halftime deficit. Quinn is a smooth operator from the midrange, attacking the rim, and from downtown. Wesenberg's hot shooting was a big reason why Bonduel came back to win this game by double digits in the second half.The six-foot-four prospect who competes with the [program_tooltip program_id='2512324' first='Wisconsin' last='Legends'], is hearing from some d2 and d3 schools in his recruiting process.     Davis showed out in front of the Iowa State coaching staff in both of Freedom's games in Appleton on Friday. Davis scored from the midpost, the paint, and consistently from way downtown. Donovan has been really good in his perimeter shot making this spring and summer and has proved loudly why he is headed to Ames after his senior season. Davis was dominant on the glass, shot blocking, passing lanes, and his facilitation in addition to his big scoring output against Fort Atkinson.     Geiger kept the Blackhawks within striking distance most of their game against Freedom due to his ability to attack the basket with skill, shiftiness, and his ability to use his body in traffic. Graeson had 19 points getting to the cup with ease and stopping on a dime from the second level to hit challenging midrange shots on Friday. Geiger has played very well this spring and summer on both ends and has college interest from d3 schools in the Midwest.
