About Ben
Expert Analysis
Brett Pickarts | Prep Hoops Scout
Wittnebel might have the highest ceiling out of anyone I saw on Saturday in the gym at Hopkins High School. Ben has the length and physical tools to be a scholarship player and recently picked up his first offer from Northern Michigan. Wittnebel is nearly unguardable when he locks in his midrange pull-up game, and has an efficient stroke from deep to truly make him a three-level scorer. Wittnebel was a big reason why Academy won their matchup against 1848 as he poured in 13 points in the second half. Wittnebel, as he adds more physical strength, will be one of the most desired prospects in the 2028 class in the state of Wisconsin. Look for Ben and the rest of the Beaver Dam squad to make a lot of noise in the 2026-2027 high school season.

Ben was one of the best prospects on the floor last night against D1 Minnesota . At 6’6 he moves and handles the ball in a way not many guys his size can, playing some point-forward at times for Wisconsin Academy . He has some wiggle on the ball to beat defenders off the dribble, able to get all the way to the rim and use his length to finish, or stop on a dime for a mid-range jumper. Developing into a three level scoring threat with a projectable frame for the next level.

for the Golden Beavers. The super sophomore is a gym rat and it shows with the strength he has added to his frame this season. Wittnebel elevates high on all of his jumpers rising over defenders to knock down perimeter jump shots. When Ben is not knocking down triples, the 6-foot-6 prospect uses shimmies and a jab series to get to his spot in the midrange. Oftentimes you will see Wittnebel rise up to drain a sweet 1-2 pullup in transition and in the halfcourt. Ben was effective for Beaver Dam getting to basket off of baseline rips, that deadly pull-up jumper, and staying active on the offensive glass. Wittnebel finished with 14 points for a balanced Beaver Dam squad as they came out victorious against a solid Monroe team. Wittnebel should start to generate interest from schools as he matures with age and physical strength. Circle Wittnebel as a sophomore you need to see the rest of this year and heading into this spring and summer.

A quick glimpse at Wittnebel immediately leads to intrigue as he has a basketball build. At 6-foot-6 and with impressive an impressive wingspan, Wittnebel looks like a basketball player. And then when you watch him compete, your realize he has a chance to be special. Such was the case for Wittnebel at the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID Showcase in Appleton on Saturday. Wittnebel rises up well on his jump shot, has a smooth shot and can put the ball on the floor and swoop in for layups at the rim. He has good range on his jump shot and can emerge as a very good defender/rebounder due to his length and bounce. He is ranked No. 8 in the state’s 2028 class and will be a player to watch closely over the next three seasons for Beaver Dam.

. But his upside might be the best of all the players in the Beavers’ program. His length, bounce and skill continue to improve and impress. Wittnebel’s explosiveness on drives to the basket is difficult for defenders to deal with and only figures to become more of a problem as he adds weight and strength to his frame.
