His ability to positively impact a game in many different areas is a big reason why Onalaska is 10-0 and ranked No. 1 among WIAA Division 2 schools in the state. In a recent win over Caledonia, Minn., Kowal finished with four three-point baskets, 24 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and zero turnovers. The next time out, Kowal had 30 points and nine rebounds in an 82-59 win over Winona, Minn.

Kowal’s got a lot of upside to his game. He’s an impact kind of player ranked top 20 in his class. As a scorer, he can find buckets from all three levels. Even hitting a pair of contested jumpers. When the shots weren’t there he showcased great vision to find guys open as a passer. But without the ball, Kowall did a great job trying to free himself up. Defensively, he does an outstanding job of sticking with his mark in a man-to-man. Not many guys can make his team better both with and without the ball in his hands. Kowal does that.
