Rangy players with longer-than-usual strides who also possesses strong ball skills are difficult to cover. Wesenberg falls into that category for Bonduel and the Wisconsin Legends
. He can score using his length and size on drives to the basket or quickly pull up for a deep jump shot. His length also causes issues for opposing offenses as he can get into passing lanes with his anticipation and long arms. Wesenberg helped Bonduel to WIAA State Tournament appearances in each of the past two seasons and averaged 19.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a junior as the Bears finished 25-4.
Wesenberg showcased his ability to impact games outside of his smooth and automatic jump shot on Saturday. Quinn is an outstanding three point shooter, but was chased off the perimeter by the aggressive defense of Iola. Wesenberg was able to adjust using his top-tier body control when he is handling the ball. The six-foot-four junior combo guard is able to stop on a dime using stop exchange and hesitation dribbles to rise up to hit midrange jumpers. He is a crafty and intelligent player as he is able to get defenders off-balance from that mid-range area to explode to the basket, or draw contact to get to the charity stripe. Wesenberg was nine of ten from the line including two free throws to ice the game away for the Bears. Quinn is an underrated athlete and showcased his ability to finish at and above the rim as he converted several takes over the length and athleticism of Loken and Robbins. Quinn finished with 17 points, and should be on the radar of college coaches this spring and summer with his size, skill, and athleticism.
Wesenberg flashed his collegiate potential on Thursday night scoring at all three levels. The 6-foot-4 junior wing prospect is smooth as they come when he catches. Quinn is able to get downhill with his quickness and athleticism finishing around and over defenders. It is apparent that Wesenberg spends a ton of time in the gym working on his footwork as he displayed his ability to utilize up and unders, spin moves , and two foot finishes on Thursday. In addition to Wesenberg’s ability to slash to the basket, he has deep range from behind the arc. Quinn hit two threes well beyond NBA range and shoots it with confidence. Wesenberg leads the Bears in scoring at 19.3ppg and should be a player to watch this club season when he hits the circuit with the Wisconsin Legends
this spring and summer.
