WBY Tourney in Kaukauna: Pools I/J, K/L standouts, results

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bonduel captured&nbsp;the Pools I/J title and Wauwatosa West won the Pools K/L crown at the 24th annual Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Summer Tournament held June 19-20-21 in Kaukauna.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Following are some observations from the 85-team event:<br><br><strong>Pool I Standings</strong><br>Bonduel 4-0, Forest Park, Mich. 3-1, Auburndale 1-3, Laconia 1-3, Medford 1-3.<br><br><strong>Pool J Standings</strong><br>Sheboygan Lutheran 3-1, Roncalli 3-1, Dodgeland 2-2, Southern Door 2-2, Assumption 0-4.<br><br><strong>Pools I/J Title Game</strong><br>Bonduel 49, Sheboygan Lutheran 43. Leading Scorers: [player_tooltip player_id='2387960' first='Quinn' last='Wesenberg'] (B) 25, [player_tooltip player_id='3004399' first='Jack' last='Zernicke'] (B) 10, [player_tooltip player_id='2386363' first='Carter' last='Moesch'] (B) 9, [player_tooltip player_id='2562463' first='McCoy' last='Michael'] (SL) 20.<br><br><strong>Pools I/J Most Valuable Player<br>[player_tooltip player_id='2387960' first='Quinn' last='Wesenberg'], 6-3, Sr., G, Bonduel</strong><br>A consistently improving player in each of the past three seasons, Wesenberg was stellar while helping Bonduel to a 5-0 record and the Pools I/J championship. The skilled 6-foot-3 wing was able to attack the basket and finish with regularity while also knocking down perimeter shots. He finished with 12 three-point baskets in five games and had his best showings in very competitive contests with Sheboygan Lutheran and Laconia. Wesenberg went for 20 points to help Bonduel stay in front of Sheboygan Lutheran for virtually the entire game in the Pools I/J title contest and he had 23 points in a Pool Play-win over Laconia. Wesenberg is a strong all-around athlete who figures to draw plenty of attention from many of the state's NCAA Division III basketball programs. <strong><br><br>Pools I/J Breakout Performer</strong><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2615537' first='Tre' last='Cliff'], 6-0, Jr., G, Roncalli</strong><br>Cliff is a two-year varsity performer for the very strong program at Roncalli. He has been a role player for the Jets the past two seasons, but he will need to step up his level of production in 2026-27 with the graduation loss of St. Norbert College recruits Donovan Cowley and Dominik Frozena. Cliff was up to the task in Kaukauna as he scored in double figures in each game for the Jets. He finished with 15 in a win over Dodgeland, 10 in a victory over Assumption, 17 in a loss to Sheboygan Luther and 13 in a triumph over Southern Door. Cliff used his quickness and strength to get to the basket in transition while also connecting on some shots from outside the arc. Dalhoe got on an all-time heater early in the game, sinking seven three-point shots and scoring 25 points in the first half. He added 18 more points in the second half and finished with 43 points and 11 three-point baskets to propel the Bulldogs to their victory. Dalhoe can obviously shoot, but he also can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. He finishes well with his strength and size while also earns plenty of trips to the foul line.
