The start of the IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament threw the schedule off on the boys side this past week. In order to give the spotlight to girls' Sectional the boys had a much lighter than normal schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday and there were essentially no games on Friday. However, there was a full slate on Thursday which we have obviously already covered and then a bunch of games played during the day on Saturday afternoon. Here are some of the top individual standouts from the Saturday afternoon slate.

This 6'1" unsigned senior guard at Western High School scored a game-high 23 points on Saturday afternoon in the Panthers 67-43 win at Maconaquah. However, while the big scoring performance was impressive, the storyline here was that Biggs surpassed the 1,000 career point milestone in the game.

Coolman, a left-handed junior guard, poured in 24 points to go with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals on Saturday afternoon as Homestead knocked off previously undefeated Oak Hill 58-53. The Spartans improved to 13-5 on the season with their third straight victory. This 6'1" playmaker and consistent outside shooting threat is a big reason why Homestead will be a real threat to advance in the state tournament once again.

Noblesville will need someone to step up now that Curry II is officially out for the season. At least on Saturday afternoon that guy was Flanagan who poured in seven three-point shots as the Millers defeated Center Grove 60-26. Flanagan, a left-handed sharpshooter, is committed to play at Wabash College.

There are few, if any, teams in the state of Indiana that are as hot as Terre Haute North right now. The Patriots backed up their big win over Plainfield with a 79-61 win at Decatur Central on Saturday afternoon. Hammond, an athletic, physical junior wing, led the way with 23 points in the game. Terre Haute North's balanced scoring attack, with several different guys capable of scoring 20+, has been a big part of their 14-game winning streak. Hammond was the one to step up and lead the charge on Saturday.

Batesville is right back to their winning ways after dropping a recent game to Class 1A Top 5 Hauser. The Bulldogs have quietly put together an excellent season running their record up to 16-2 after Saturday's 77-53 win at Madison. Hughes, a talented 6'4" junior guard, has been a big reason for their overall success this season. He finished with 39 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals while shooting an impressive 16-22, 7-10, 9-12 from the field.

One of the top junior guards in northern Indiana, Ott-Large continues to put together an excellent season at LaPorte High School. He led the Slicers to another win on Saturday afternoon putting up 25 points and dishing out 9 assists in a 64-43 win over Kankakee Valley. LaPorte is now 14-6 on the season. They will be part of a loaded field in Sectional 3 this postseason.

Westview hasn't lost since their second game of the season when they fell to Northridge, 68-56, on December 1st. Northridge is 17-1 on the season at the Class 4A level. The Warriors are also now 17-1, winners of 16 straight, after holding on to defeat Blackhawk Christian 59-58 on Saturday afternoon. Schlabach, a talented junior guard for Westview, scored 17 points to lead the way.

It wasn't that long ago that South Bend Adams was undefeated. They started the season 10-0 prior to hitting a rough patch in their schedule and losing five straight games. However, they bounced back in a major way on Saturday afternoon defeating Portage, who had started the season 16-0, 69-67. Tolbert Jr, an unsigned senior guard, scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Eagles.

The New Albany Bulldogs have a very strong resume with six regular season games left to go. They are 13-4 on the season with all four of those losses coming to Top 10 teams in the state. On Saturday afternoon they dominated Columbus East 81-55 on the back of 20 points from unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id='1563826' first='TJ' last='Washington']. His perimeter shot-making ability and quickness with the ball in his hands makes him an intriguing small college prospect.
