New to Prep Hoops in the 2025–26 season are Power Scores, a data-driven formula that accounts for win percentage, point differential, strength of schedule, and the overall strength of each classification. Every team in South Carolina receives a unique score based on these factors. Below, I will break down some teams who I think are undervalued by Power Scores, based on what I've seen from them in person, their team resumes, and individual statistics.

Greenville High School - 15th Overall, 6th in 5A D2, 92.17

First up on my list of undervalued teams in the Prep Hoops Power Scores Database is Greenville High School. Despite losing a few key pieces from last year's State-Championship winning squad, the Red Raiders are still the consensus favorite in Class AAAAA Division 2. They have as strong a seven-man rotation as any team in the state, led by elite guard duo [player_tooltip player_id='1624061' first='Caden' last='Coleman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2027918' first='Tucker' last='Scholl']. [player_tooltip player_id='2404727' first='Gavin' last='Griffin'] has taken a big step this season and is their top interior threat at 16.6 Points Per Game, 4.5 Rebounds Per Game, and 1.5 Blocks Per Game. Greenville had two terrific December wins over Westwood and Riverside, and they were undefeated against in-state competition until Saturday's loss to North Augusta.

Fox Creek High School - 26th Overall, 5th in 3A, 90.76

Fox Creek is extremely undervalued at 26th overall and 5th in Class AAA. They have one of the more impressive losses on their resume, taking Byrnes to overtime at their place in a 103-96 loss. The Predators are also battled-tested against some strong Georgia competition, with losses to Greenforest and Butler as well as wins over Thompson, Lakeside, and Harlem. They are currently on a six-game win streak without the services of starter [player_tooltip player_id='2877440' first='Keori' last='Atwell'], but [player_tooltip player_id='2313892' first='Chanze' last='Allen'], [player_tooltip player_id='1986996' first='Kobe' last='Sims'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2414074' first='Justin' last='Vining'] are all playing good basketball. Fox Creek still has to match up with defending 3A State Champion Keenan twice in region play, and a sweep of the Raiders would really put them on the radar as a certain contender in the class.

Indian Land High School - 39th Overall, 12th in 5A D2, 89.04

Currently sitting in second in Class AAAAA Region 3 with a game in hand and a win on the road over first-place Fort Mill is Indian Land High School. There are not many players in the state playing better basketball than South Carolina Football Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1955614' first='Sequel' last='Patterson'], a guard averaging 15.6 points per game on 48% three-point shooting. A 30-point loss to Goose Creek and a five-point loss to C.A. Johnson are the two biggest red flags on their resume, but impressive wins include Seneca, Catawba Ridge, and the aforementioned region win over Fort Mill. It will be interesting to see how much [player_tooltip player_id='2486489' first='Jayden' last='Williams'], Brent Michael Terrell, and Lathan Wood can add around their star player, but there is no doubt they will count on Patterson when it matters most.

Ben Lippen School - 63rd Overall, 5th in SCISA 4A, 86.94

Checking in at #63 overall and #5 in SCISA Class AAAA are the Ben Lippen Falcons. One thing that Power Scores can't factor into it's algorithm is that Ben Lippen will have the best player in every playoff matchup, [player_tooltip player_id='1364910' first='Braysen' last='Stockman']. Add in his brother, [player_tooltip player_id='1806932' first='Maddox' last='Stockman'], and knockdown sophomore shooter [player_tooltip player_id='3067621' first='DJ' last='Slaughter'], and the Falcons have a top-tier big three, so it will be the supporting cast around them that determines how far they can go. Their best win this season was a home victory over Pinewood Prep on December 15th, but losses to SCISA 4A Porter-Gaud, SCISA 3A Laurence Manning, and 1A C.A. Johnson are what is holding back their score from being as high as it should be.

C.A. Johnson High School (84th overalll, 7th in 1A, 85.07)

By far the most undervalued team by Prep Hoops Power Scores is C.A. Johnson. In my opinion, the Hornets are clearly the best team in Class A and have a roster that could compete in some of the biggest classes in the state. They aren't afraid to play top competition, including wins over Ben Lippen and Indian Land as well as tight losses to Ridge View and Keenan, so their record might not look as clean as some of the others in 1A. However, they've dominated their region through seven games, starting undefeated with an average margin of victory of 49.4. With what I've seen in person this season from seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1848632' first='Tony' last='Odom'], [player_tooltip player_id='2673795' first='Aissacc' last='Germany'], and [player_tooltip player_id='3147253' first='Javarious' last='Wyche'], combined with the elite talent of [player_tooltip player_id='2149135' first='Milton' last='McCray'], it would be a surprise to not see the Hornets in Colonial Life Arena this March.
