Game Recap:

The final game of the 2025-26 South Carolina High School Basketball Season was the Class AAAA State Championship between North Augusta High School and South Pointe High School. And, as was the case a year ago, the season was not going to end without giving us a little bit of drama. The #1 player in South Carolina's 2026 Class, [player_tooltip player_id='1466665' first='Tre' last='Raymon'], opened the scoring in his final high school game with a tough, contested mid-range jumper. It showed a little bit of the North Augusta defensive game plan, as they wanted to double Raymon often, but it also showed what he was going to have to do for his team's offense all game long. Trinten Stevenson also had a nice start to the game for South Pointe with a left-corner three and an offensive put back, but North Augusta ended the quarter on a 12-0 run, which was capped by a transition three from [player_tooltip player_id='2289958' first='Jordan' last='Rouse']. The Stallions continued to struggle early in the second quarter, but North Augusta itself went through a series of mini-droughts and only scored five points in the period. They were able to keep the lead by throwing different defenders, such as [player_tooltip player_id='1206192' first='Quh'mareon' last='Webb'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1875715' first='Toian' last='Nabriat'], at Raymon. [player_tooltip player_id='3547753' first='Christian' last='Dupree'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2951681' first='Tradyn' last='Phillips'] stepped up with some nice minutes to close the second half, sending the teams to the locker rooms tied. The Yellow Jackets came out of the break with the first seven points, including a breakaway dunk from [player_tooltip player_id='2364856' first='Tristan' last='Anderson-Edmond'], before [player_tooltip player_id='1487227' first='Ja'shawn' last='Reid'] stopped the run with a bucket of his own. The game got tight late thanks to buckets from Stevenson and Raymon, and the Stallions found themselves with a late lead until a Nabriat tip-in tied the game and sent it to overtime. In the first overtime, it was a lot of Raymon and Rouse, with each team's best player trying to carry the rest of their squad to glory. However, we found ourselves tied again after four minutes of free basketball. Then, in the second overtime, North Augusta pulled away by winning the period 11-3, sealing it with Nabriat's sixth block and an icing-on-the-cake dunk from Webb to give Coach Tony Harrell and the Yellow Jackets their first State Championship Trophy.
