Gavin and the Red Raiders aim to repeat in 5A Division Two with a win on Thursday. He is much-improved from a year ago, however, transforming from an athletic role player into one of the toughest and most polished forwards in the state. Griffin more than doubled his per-game numbers from 2024-25 and is now racking up over 13 points and 7.5 rebounds a night in 2025-26. He is more than just a presence around the rim, though, because he has a solid mid-range jumper and is a tone-setter with his hustle on both ends.
Gavin is a mix of a star and a hustle guy because he is both one of their best players and their hardest-working players. Griffin was excellent on the glass early in the game, racking up 6 of his 9 rebounds across the first 16:00. He also stepped up with 10 points, displaying an ability to hit mid-range jumpers both off the catch and the dribble. Gavin struggled with some foul trouble in the second half, which was one of the reasons why T.L. Hanna got back into the game, but he put the icing on the cake inside two minutes with a dunk to put his guys back up 8.
