. I have quickly become a huge fan of Wyche’s game, but honestly, he wasn’t placed correctly when he was first inserted into the Class of 2026 Rankings in November. Javarious was moved up over 100 spots, now just outside the top 50, after seeing him dominate 1A competition and look just as good against tough teams. The first game that comes to mind when thinking about how good Wyche can be is the December matchup with Ridge View, the eventual D1 Champs, where he was one of the best players on the floor and continuously made his presence felt with his strong frame, excellent playmaking instincts, and knockdown pull-up game.

Javarious is easily one of the most impactful transfers across the entire state. After coming over from Blythewood High School, he hit the ground running with elite play amongst a loaded backcourt. He doesn’t have as many of the highlight-reel plays above the rim as his teammates do, but when it’s time to make a play in the half-court, Wyche is often the guy they trust. This is because he is calm under pressure and through contact, both as a scorer and a facilitator. His positional size and basketball IQ are factors for this, and they are also big reasons why I think he can be a great player at the next level. Javarious has been an under-the-radar player playing in Class 1A all season long, but his 24-point, 4-steal, and 2-assist performance in Saturday’s State Championship is another in a long line of big performances on bright stages.

Wyche had an eye-opening performance for me in the first game of the season. He is exactly what colleges are looking for in a Point Guard with regard to his positional size and strong frame. Javarious was able to frequently make reads over his matchup simply because of that height advantage, but he also guarded the opponent’s Center for stretches of the game on Wednesday. There is some room for growth for Wyche as a shooter, but his ability to get paint touches and finish or kick to shooters is what can earn him an opportunity at the next level.
