Prep Hoops Stomping Grounds: SD All-Tournament Teams + Evals

After hitting the film from Prep Hoops Stomping Grounds throughout the tailend of the week and making notes as I go, I have a final article outlining some of the notable South Dakota prospects and a couple North Dakota prospects. Because on the court, he's been leading an [program_tooltip program_id='2832803' first='Impact' last=''] 17U-1 team that is really shocking everyone by their team play and they have taken down some good teams from good programs. Their early success is honestly one of the more surprising developments of the early AAU season. Briggs is a big reason for the team's success and he's also coming off of a state AA championship as the starting point guard. All Briggs does is win and I think that needs to be given more consideration. So I may do a 180 and move him up the board based off of his on-court play rather than size.     I'm fairly high on Uhing and I think he can be a breakout AA player next season for Sioux Falls Washington. I've written about him a few times already because he's looking a little more explosive and athletic. He's been really strong in transition and gets to the rim and foul line often. It would not surprise me if he was a 14-16 points per game scorer next season.     I'm unsure of the connections, but the last name Carlow is a notable last name in South Dakota and North Dakota when it comes to hoopin' and getting it done on the high school basketball court. By seeing Artie live, this sure seems to be the case for him as well. A natural hooper with skill and a high-level feel for the game. Carlow's crossover on the move, finishing abilty at the rim, and his court vision and passing ability were a few traits that I noticed about him.     Gage was one of the top 3-point shooters at the tournament. He's a lefty 3-point shotmaker that showed some really impressive shooting range as well. He needs to be guarded tightly because he will fire it up every time he has space or an inattentive defender.     Cooper shot the three well against [program_tooltip program_id='2444909' first='Heiser' last='Skills Academy']. His passing and ball distribution kind of caught my eye as well. Showed some solid transition play.     With ranking the 2026 class and placing Bosma, I believe I overreacted to him struggling to finish at the rim when I saw him live. But after going back on the film, Becker's ranking needs to be adjusted slightly for the better. I gained more of a liking for Bosma's defensive ability. Especially his ability to hang with guards on the perimeter. He gets locked-in in a defensive stance, getting ready to take on some quicker guards.     Milton's defensive ability really stoodout after going back on the film. His length, effort, and movement combination made him out to be a noticeably good defensive player.     Shawd has been all over the Prep Hoops Dakotas website with his breakout offseason scoring the ball on the Prep Hoops Circuit. He continued his elite scoring by scoring 90 total points on a 22.5 scoring average.     Bevers is majorly on the rise as a prospect and a point guard that can lead a team and be a playmaking player. Chris brings a load of toughness on both ends. In the past, I wasn't sure if he could translate to a lead guard at the next level, but his recent play has given me confidence to place him at the point guard position.     Bednarek's on-ball defense against quick and talented guards was impressive. I definitely have been sleeping on his defensive ability and should have given him a mention by now. He applies heavy pressure.     These [program_tooltip program_id='2075302' first='Sacred' last='Hoops'] 2027 prospects have been slept on by me and haven't received their due recognition, but that will change going forward. Bettcher kind of came out of nowhere for me, but he can play.     Nelson has very good lateral defensive movement. A longer athlete than I had given him credit for. The improvement in his stock will be up based off of his defensive ability and his improving athletic ability.     Lincoln brings a lot of value to [program_tooltip program_id='2250291' first='Hoop' last='City South Dakota'] Joey 16U. I really like his basketball IQ on the court. Protects and values the ball as he moves the ball around the horn cleanly and quickly. He's an aggressive 3-point shooter and is sort of a high volume shooter from three, but he still has great shot selection. He has a quick release, so that makes it easy for him to get clean looks. He can also shoot the ball off the dribble and pull up when he attacks a closing-out defender. He brings more value than a box score may suggest. After viewing him more closely and gaining far more appreciation of his value, I think he needs to jump up the 2027 rankings board considerably. He could be considered for a spot around #40 overall     Owen is one of the better overall shooters from the South Dakota 2028 class. Seems like his ability to put the ball on the floor has improved a little. He looks to be a focused team defender that sets himself in a team defensive ready position. He's not a high-end prospect in the class, but he keeps improving and fine-tuning his skills and overall game to where he could end up being a college prospect at the lower levels. He provides value to his team.     Christion looks slightly a little taller and slightly quicker and with more overall athletic pop in all directions on both sides of the ball. Has an advanced and skilled handle where he can get a defender sliding and moving in all sorts of directions. I really like his upside if he can have a nice growth spurt soon.     I'm starting to like Bertram has a high-energy offensive weapon and shot-maker. He's one of the best pure 3-point shooters in the South Dakota 2028 class. He can create his own threes.     Ellwein's aggression shooting the three and his next-shot mentality make for him to be a dangerous weapon with the potential to go on shooting sequences of making two to three in a row without the opponent scoring at all.     I'm not sure we've mentioned Arend on the site or not quite yet, but he's a smooth and skilled point guard with a consistent 3-point game and ability to hit jumpers. I like the way he defends and seems as though he has some sound defensive IQ. He'll be entering the 2028 rankings on Monday, and while he's not a high-end prospect, I believe he has college potential.     There will be a lot more to come on Caden when 2028 rankings are updated on Monday. A little teaser here, but Hollenbeck will be a featured stock-riser in the rankings update. The 6'6” Wing/F has a ways to go as a player, but his ceiling is very high and he's steadily coming along month-to-month. Caden is a prospect that could be an entirely different player/prospect in two years.     Teake is deserving of a mention on the site. If you're a coach, Teake is what you're looking for in your point guard. He's one of the few and rare true point guards in the state. A true point guard that has a mindset of controlling a game with ball-handling, court vision, pace-setting, distributing, and being a threat to put the ball in the hoop when the opportunity arises. He showed some impressive explosiveness and acceleration in the open court.     Haila is a raw prospect at this time, but I have a hunch that he could get up to the 6'9”-6'10” mark. He's a 6'5” and looks to be inching closer to 6'6”. So obviously great size for a younger prospect. A fairly decent athlete already that can jump some, so that is encouraging for his potential upside.     Dekker is somewhere between being a wing and a wing/4. He's a new prospect that will be added to the upcoming South Dakota 2028 rankings. Great length and skill to go with it. I will need to make it a point to see him more.     Trooien noticeably attacks the offensive glass consistently. Doesn't have elite size, but his motor is always running.     Per a source close to the Hoop City SD program, Lundin averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks per contest at Stomping Grounds. The South Dakota 2028 rankings post tomorrow and Lundin's stock is now at an elite level now that I've seen him up live. A thorough analysis on Lundin tomorrow as he skyrockets up the 2028 rankings board.
