He might be from South Dakota, but ND fans should get familiar. Chance is signed with NDSU. He and the Dolphins won big last night vs. Colman-Egan. Schoenfeld had a game high 22 points.
Not a star yet, but if Coach Richman and the Bison are correct, he will be this winter. Schoenfeld committed to NDSU in late July. This Dolphin is a long and lanky lefty who runs the floor well. Chance scores inside the arc, finishes above the rim, hits triples, and protects the rim. He will be a BIG problem in Class B.
Sitting towards the top of the Class B ranks is one of the newest Bison on the block. Chance will be headed to NDSU next fall to hoop it up in the D1 ranks. No doubt his long body and wingspan is something the Bison need. Schoenfeld can shoot from deep and shows great balance and agility for his size. I expect Chance to dominate the B’s this season.
The long lefty Dolphin from Deubrook committed to NDSU this summer. That was unexpected but good for Mr. Schoenfeld. I watched him live this spring and Chance certainly has potential. Has a long wingspan, can space the floor for triples, runs the floor well, boards up, and dunks in traffic.
I don’t want to get into much detail on Schoenfeld right now, because he’ll be featured as a stock-riser in the 2026 rankings update tomorrow. But I do want to mention that I found out that he’s a fairly young 2026 prospect and he will turn 18 years old next May when he graduates. So, I believe that is noteworthy for college coaches.
Schoenfeld may be the biggest surprise to me so far this offseason. I saw him on film in the past, but he didn’t play like he’s playing now. His upcoming ranking on Monday May 19th will shock people. His ceiling is incredibly high. More analysis coming on Monday.
Chance had some nice flashes on Saturday running with Impact Basketball
. The 6’7+ forward was an Impact Basketball
rim protector, swatting a handful of shots, while also altering many more with his long frame and ability to contest straight up. Showed good mobility at his size to slide his feet into positions to make plays. Offensively he could go to work out of the block and finish with a left handed baby hook, but also showcased a face-up game with touch on his short/mid-range jumper. Still a bit of a project, but one to watch if he can add some strength/weight.
Chance is an intriguing prospect that really impressed me with his athleticism and size. He rose up for a posterizing two-hand dunk in the game I caught, catching the whole gym’s attention. The 6’7” forward is capable of putting the ball on the floor to get downhill, being able to finish at full speed. Schoenfeld was also great at defending the basket, using his length and vertical jumping ability to block and alter shots.
