Two weeks ago the IHSAA State Tournament started with over 400 teams across four classes competing for a coveted trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. We crowned 64 Sectional champions and then, on Saturday, cut the field in half with 32 Regional champions. Now, those teams will compete in the Semi-State round with two games on Saturday, March 22nd ultimately dwindling the field down to two teams per class. Let's preview the four games in Class 34.

10:00 a.m. - South Bend Riley (22-4) vs. Fishers (28-0)

There was no team that had a more exciting Regional victory than South Bend Riley. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2398991' first='Tyrese' last='Jones'] went off for 45 points to help the Wildcats advanced in double overtime, 77-71, over Warsaw. However, they will now go up against the undefeated, defending Class 4A state champion Fishers Tigers. Fishers dominated South Bend Riley 89-29 earlier in the season. [player_tooltip player_id='1297088' first='Marvin' last='Schindler'], [player_tooltip player_id='2398991' first='Tyrese' last='Jones'], and company will be out to prove that lopsided score was a fluke. Defeating this Tigers' group led by [player_tooltip player_id='2267046' first='Jason' last='Gardner Jr.'], [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1297069' first='Justin' last='Kirby'] has not been something that anyone has accomplished in a long time though.

12:00 p.m. - Homestead (22-5) vs. Crown Point (22-2)

Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='2054869' first='Jake' last='Coolman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140416' first='Mack' last='Welker'] have helped lead Homestead to the Semi-State round which included an "upset" over Fort Wayne Wayne, 56-52, in the Sectional 6 championship game. The Spartans then beat Carroll (Fort Wayne) 42-39 in the Regional. Crown Point is led by a pair of juniors, [player_tooltip player_id='1561617' first='Dikembe' last='Shaw'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1561445' first='Mason' last='Darrell'], who will look to extend the Bulldogs' winning streak to 10 games.

10:00 a.m. - Terre Haute North (21-5) vs. Lawrence North (21-6)

There aren't many teams in the state of Indiana more talented than this Lawrence North group. Led by Butler signee [player_tooltip player_id='1296979' first='Azavier' last='Robinson'], and junior forwards [player_tooltip player_id='1729136' first='Brennan' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'], they have the inside-outside punch to beat anyone. Meanwhile, the Patriots of Terre Haute North lean on their balance and execution to win games. [player_tooltip player_id='1561105' first='Brady' last='Klopfenstein'], [player_tooltip player_id='1561104' first='Gavin' last='Woelfle'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1561113' first='Cameron' last='Fennell'] are among the leaders for Terre Haute North. Theis game will be a contrast of styles, but don't be too surprised if it is close until the final buzzer.

12:00 p.m. - Jeffersonville (21-5) vs. Mt. Vernon (Fortville) (21-5)

Outside of Fishers, it would be hard to find two teams playing better basketball right now than Jeffersonville and Mt. Vernon (Fortville). Jeffersonville has rattled off 15 wins in a row with their Division I trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'] (Northwestern), [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'] (Wright State), and [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas'] (Wright State) leading the way. As for the Marauders, they won a very difficult Sectional 9 and then dominated Brownsburg in the Regional. They have won nine of their last 10 games led by Class of 2026 Purdue commit [player_tooltip player_id='1728587' first='Luke' last='Ertel'].
