Pairings released for Rick Majerus WBY Shootout

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 19th annual Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout, one of the state's premier in-season events, will take place December 26-27-28 at the newly refurbished John Buuck Fieldhouse on the Concordia University campus in Mequon. <br><br>Top teams from across the state once again will participate in the event, spearheaded by four of last year's WIAA state champions -- Marquette (Division 1), Wisconsin Lutheran (Division 2), Saint Thomas More (Division 3) and Mineral Point (Division 4). <br><br>Eleven of the top 20-ranked players in the <a href="https://prephoops.com/wisconsin/rankings/2025-rankings/">Prep Hoops Wisconsin Player Rankings for the 2025</a> class highlights the individual talent at the WBY Shootout. Ticket information will be released in November. <br><br><strong>December 26 Highlights</strong><br><br>A matchup pairings the WIAA Division 1 (Marquette) and Division 2 (Wisconsin Lutheran) state champions of a year ago highlights Day One. Although both teams were hit hard by graduation, both programs are established among the elite in the state. Marquette is led by junior [player_tooltip player_id='2500045' first='Tommy' last='Novotny'] while Wisconsin Lutheran has three regulars back in [player_tooltip player_id='1552512' first='Zavier' last='Zens'], [player_tooltip player_id='1973108' first='Alex' last='Greene'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1485498' first='Isaiah' last='Mellock']. Milwaukee Academy of Science, one of the most talented teams in the state and featuring Iowa State recruit [player_tooltip player_id='1447228' first='Jamarion' last='Batemon'], takes on Eau Claire Memorial in the 7:45 marquee contest. Eau Claire Memorial is favored to win the Big Rivers Conference and is led by the guard tandem of [player_tooltip player_id='1481178' first='Cooper' last='Jesperson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1962213' first='Julius' last='Clark']. The Juneau vs. Dominican contest promises to be outstanding as Johnson and Co. take on a Dominican team led by senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1351718' first='Aaron' last='Womack']. <br><br><strong>December 27 Highlights</strong><br><br>Talent galore in each and every game of Day Two with committed NCAA Division I players taking part, including Oshkosh North's [player_tooltip player_id='1282617' first='Xzavion' last='Mitchell'] (Iowa State), Milwaukee Academy of Science's [player_tooltip player_id='1447228' first='Jamarion' last='Batemon'] (Iowa State) and De Pere's [player_tooltip player_id='1351717' first='Zach' last='Kinziger'] (Wisconsin). The big matchup pits Milwaukee Academy of Science, the likely No. 1-ranked team among Division 3 schools entering the season, against De Pere, the likely No. 1-ranked team among Division 1 schools to start the 2024-25 season.
