The WIBCA June D1 Recruiting Showcase took place on June 29th and 30th, and once again brought together some of the state's top teams and teams from Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. It is a yearly event you do not want to miss. These are some of the guard standouts I was able to catch in action over the weekend.

Chance Dastrup Orem (UT)

A crafty guard who did a great job getting penetration and finding shooters all around the arc. He's a quick PG who showed an excellent feel for where teammates would be and had a nice two-man game going with his bigs working along the perimeter and high post areas. Attacked screens with tight turns and got good driving angles to finish against bigs inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2478557' first='Hunter' last='Carter'] Garfield

A super shifty guard who can play both spots in the backcourt. He showed why he's so versatile with a handful of passes zipped into tight windows to hit his teammates in good spots to attack, and also was a monster by the rim with some crafty and athletic finishes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2173107' first='Isaiah' last='Davis'] Garfield

Davis has an easy stroke from 3-point and showed why he'll be a key player in year two at Garfield. He's got some good strength that helps him with ball security, defense, and gives him a little extra range behind the arc. Look out for this sophomore this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1863195' first='Jackson' last='Whitaker'] Liberty (Renton)

It's hard to find a hole in his game and it shows with his steady play and reliability. He's able to maintain a high level of play throughout games, weekends, and seasons. He mixes up his attack well, showing the vision to dime up teammates and the situational feel to pull the trigger and get a bucket without disrupting his team's flow. Liberty plays a great brand of basketball and he's the perfect kid to lead the charge for them.

Eli Nordland Liberty (Renton)

One of the many Liberty guards who plays unselfish basketball and can shoot the lights out. Nordland was on point from behind the arc at the showcase and makes those half-second decisions with the ball that keeps defenders moving. He's a smart player who reads his defender well, can shoot the 3, and work inside off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='1984502' first='Laolu' last='Ajasin'] Tahoma

Here's a kid who's been sitting and waiting for an opportunity at Tahoma and should see plenty of minutes this winter. Ajasin is a solid slashing guard who likes to get paint touches and can score in various ways around the hoop. He shows good touch with the short to midrange jumper and uses his body well to finish at the cup.

[player_tooltip player_id='2375385' first='Jalen' last='Davis'] Bremerton

Had games of 52, 37, 37, and 30 over the weekend leading his team to wins over 4A West Valley, Jesuit (OR), 4A Camas, and 3A Rainier Beach. Davis isn't slowing down at all after a monster end to his high school season. He exhibits great feel, gets to his spots, has an easy stroke, and makes high IQ reads. He's one of, if not the top player in his class and should continue to be a force for Bremerton.

[player_tooltip player_id='1850299' first='Kaden' last='Powers'] Rainier Beach

Did his thing hitting shots from behind the arc and with midrange dribble pull-ups. Also showed great awareness with quick recognition of second defenders stepping up on his drives to find teammates by the rim or spotting up along the arc. Known for his scoring but did a great job playmaking in tight spaces.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276626' first='Isaac' last='Carr'] Central Catholic (OR)

Carr had to work hard for buckets in their game against Rainier Beach but that didn't stop him from cashing in and keeping Central Catholic in it. He switches up speeds, scores from every level, and showed off a quick and diverse bag of moves off the bounce to find space and pour in buckets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1850309' first='Sebastian' last='Arius'] Auburn Mountainview

Got off to a slow start against Edmonds Woodway but found his rhythm from 3-point range and started to attack inside the arc when defenders stepped up. Was able to make some nice dishes to baseline cutters and has been better working the midrange area to mix up his scoring attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='2478559' first='Cam' last='Hiatt'] Edmonds Woodway

He's come back to Washington stronger and ready to leave a mark. Hiatt's been known as a guard who can do a bit of it all but he's really improved his shot from long range, and is scoring with better efficiency closer in thanks to a strong base and good balance. He showed he can play through a lot of contact and should have Edmonds Woodway competing near the top of the Wesco this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2384271' first='Grant' last='Williams'] Edmonds Woodway

He's a quick lefty guard who can create space with a little shimmy on the outside then stop on a dime and knock in jumpers. He played well attacking closeout defenders with hard jabs to freeze them and create time for the outside shot, as well as making quick decisions to drive in and draw that extra defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2205069' first='William' last='Alseth'] Edmonds Woodway

Alseth plays tough and has the ability to create a lot of chances getting downhill and to the rim. He has longer strides but also changes direction well and is strong enough to play through contact off the bounce and finish some tough shots inside. He's a key creator for his team and can make some big plays with his aggressive play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450981' first='Josiah' last='Lee'] Glacier Peak

Burst out for a big 47-point game, conjuring up memories of his school record 49-point outburst during the high school season. Lee is a focal point of their offense who can get it done with a barrage of 3-pointers or using some strength, cunning, and athleticism to pour in buckets in the paint.
