The Liberty guard had to work hard to get his looks, but did a great job catching ready to rock. Whether it was moving off the catch, hitting the defender with a hard pump or jab, he engaged his defender right on the catch. He’s a guy who has the footwork to go any direction, and his readiness off the catch made it tough for single defenders to cover him.

He became the fastest player in schools history to score 1,000. He consistently breaks down defenders when attacking one on one, getting to his spots smoothly.

Whitaker just became the fastest player in Liberty history to score 1000 points, which, along with some monster games this year, highlights his scoring ability. But Whitaker is much more than a scorer. He’s a guy who controls pace, makes the right play with the ball, and while he can hit tough shots and get a bucket when they need one, he’s also a guy who looks to get others involved and is a critical factor to their offensive flow and efficiency.

Whitaker has been a force to start the year and has been one of the top scorers in the state over the first month of the season. He’s helped lead Liberty to a 9-1 record, including a big win over reigning 4A champs, Mount Si. He’s a kid who plays solid across the board, understands how to set defenders up and create space with or without the ball, and has one of the better deep shots in the state. He’s been absolutely electric to start the year and has Liberty looking like one of the toughest teams in the 3A so far.

Liberty has been mowing teams down to start the year and Whitaker has been the engine behind it, averaging 27 ppg for the first five games of the year, including a 40-point outburst in their second game. He’s one of the smartest, craftiest guards in the state. He plays at his own pace and can score from each level and different spots on the floor, and is clearly in a groove to start his junior season.

Jackson has been rising in the rankings consistently as he continues to make his game more well rounded. He creates for himself smoothly and knows how to get to his spots effectively. Whitaker dropped 40 points for Liberty, showcasing he’s a top scorer in the state.

Whitaker is an excellent observer of the game. He makes an impact scoring from all three levels, dishing the ball around, and making little plays to help his team win. He gets to his spots, plays under control, and has an astute knowledge of where guys will be, how defense will react, and how to exploit weaknesses all over the court.
