Alseth is a guy who can fill a stat sheet, and he finds a lot of his success by getting penetration, using his length around the paint, and taking his time to find openings once he’s gotten some depth. He’s lanky and wiry, and has enough strength and creativity to be a real pain to stop from getting downhill and making something happen. That’s why he led the tournament with 23 FTM, and set a tournament high with 11 FTM against O’Dea. He was also fourth in offensive boards, and tied for first with 30 total rebounds. He’s a tough kid and was important in their strong finish to the postseason.
Alseth did a great job getting downhill, showing some patience in certain spots inside, and working his man under the rim on several occasions. He’s long enough that he just worked his man back and forth until he got within close range and then finished around and over defenders. Also used his pivots and ball fakes well when multiple defenders were around.
Over the summer, William has evolved his game significantly, showcasing impressive growth on both ends of the court. Offensively, he’s become a versatile threat, effortlessly attacking the basket and sinking deep shots with consistency. His mid-range game stands out the most, demonstrating precision and confidence that keeps defenders on their heels. Defensively, he leverages his length effectively, disrupting passing lanes and maintaining relentless aggression on the boards.
One of the toughest competitors in his class, Alseth is a jack-of-all-trades type of player on the floor. He guards multiple positions with his length and wiry strength, rebounds at a high rate, and while he doesn’t shoot a ton from behind the arc, he still has the ability to drop some in. He’s a tough slasher who has the moves in traffic to get through congestion and finishes strong at the cup. A big piece of their state run this season, Alseth is a kid who will do what it takes to win and fill up the stat sheet.
William has been a key player on the court for Edmonds-Woodway, one of the top 3A teams in the state. They have yet to lose a game and Alseth’s role is a key part of that. He has been scoring the ball very well, almost dropping 20 a game. He fills the stat sheet nightly too, always crashing the boards and finding open teammates for them to get easy buckets. Alseth is trending upwards and college coaches need to take notice now.
Alseth is a grinder who brings toughness and energy to the floor and it shows in his downhill game and his ability to chip in on the glass. He’s bumped his scoring average up nearly five points a game from last season and he’s been pretty consistent in that department with just two games of 20+ points while shooting 57% from the floor. He’s also able to find teammates off of his ability to attack the paint and is third on the team in assists per game (2.1). He’s a guy you can count on to be in the mix and finding ways to impact the game.
William has fantastic size for his position, standing at 6’4″ but moving quickly like a guard. He is versatile on both ends of the court, guarding a variety of positions if needed. He uses his strength to his advantage when getting down-hill and attacking defenses. He finds his spots in the mid-range with or without the ball in his hands, knocking down a high percentage from there.
William is going to have a bigger role for his team and will do a great job at helping his team win games. He is a gritty player who does all the little things at a very high level. He boxes out, closes out every time, and even dives for loose balls on the court. Alseth utilizes his 6’4″ length to his advantage, getting by opposing players and being able to finish through traffic.
