Karl was one of the most efficient players in the tournament, while finishing in the top-10 in FGM, 3PM, and FTM. He was also just three points away from leading the tournament in total scoring. He had three strong games to start the tournament, finishing with 17, 17, and 21 points before the whole team threw up a dud against Mt. Spokane with 30 total points. Karl was a big reason the Warriors were able to place for the second year in a row and walk away with that sixth-place trophy.

It was an efficient game for the Edmonds-Woodway guard, who picked his spots well and mixed in some outside shooting with some composure in the paint. He also converted a tough layup inside that cut Bellarmines’ lead to six points with just over three minutes left.

Did a great job initiating their offense, being an instigator with his penetration, and just made plays in the paint throughout the game. Made a few plays defensively with deflections and steals, and was efficient during crunch time to help seal the win.

His smooth scoring ability allows him to get buckets effortlessly, whether driving to the hoop or pulling up for jump shots. Karl’s a pretty fundamental guard who can run both guard spots thanks to his careful presence with the rock, and a sweet stroke from behind the arc. He’s got a great blend of patience, selflessness, and aggression that helps him fit into a variety of lineups. He’s tough too, and will play a big role for Edmonds-Woodway this season.

He’s just a tough, solid guard who can make plays when he needs to and has the ability to be a key floor stretcher. Handles the ball well, has experience running the one but can also be a nice complimentary ballhandler. Has been a consistent threat from deep, shooting 38% on 101 attempts his sophomore year, and 39% on 87 attempts his junior year. He’s a tough guard too who will defend, hustle for loose balls, and work hard on both ends.

Karl is a fundamentally solid guard with surprising quickness. He’s been a super reliable outside shooter the past two years, and has experience running the show and playing off the ball. Handles pressure well and can move his man, create space, and keep his eyes down the floor to set things in motion. Just a very reliable guard who plays winning basketball by making the simple play but can also rise up in big moments.

Karl was one of their main ballhandlers last season and he’s continued to be a key playmaker for them, currently second on the team in assists per game (3.3). He’s also a capable scorer who is shooting 51% from the field, 43% from 3PT, and 82% from the FT line. He’s a pretty dynamic guard who can score or facilitate and takes what the defense gives him. He’s also been a factor on the defensive end and is tied for second on the team with 2.0 spg.

I was interested to see how Karl would look, getting to play more off the ball and he did a good job stretching the floor and attacking closeouts. He splashed in some outside shots and played off of that with a strong jab/first step to get to space and draw out extra defenders from the hoop. He’ll be a key playmaker again for them but should also play a big role in keeping the floor spaced.
