June is here and that means summer league basketball is starting up. Here are a few of the top backcourts from the 3A that would be worth checking out while high school hoops are back in action.

Garfield Bulldogs

[player_tooltip player_id='1450985' first='Legend' last='Smiley'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2140825' first='Jimmie' last='Haywood III'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2173107' first='Isaiah' last='Davis'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2173114' first='Ohmono' last='Bomet']

The Bulldogs return one of the top players in the state in Smiley but should also get a big boost from some younger players stepping into larger roles next year with [player_tooltip player_id='2173107' first='Isaiah' last='Davis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2173114' first='Ohmono' last='Bomet']. Davis has a strap from 3-point, can handle the ball and share some point guard duties as well as bringing a decent frame to attack the hoop with. Bomet is a superman-type athlete who takes pride in his defense but also has the vision and skill set to create on the offensive end.

Then there is Bellevue transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2140825' first='Jimmie' last='Haywood III']. He's one of the top players in his class and can score the ball from every level. He's had an excellent spring with NW Rotary Rebels and will help balance out the offensive attack and create more space for Smiley and others.

West Seattle Wildcats

[player_tooltip player_id='2021380' first='Sully' last='Janiwade'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2173025' first='Alex' last='Pierce']

These two were relative newcomers last season who stepped into much larger roles and showed right away that they are names to take seriously. Pierce is a high-rising athlete who makes plays at the rim, is a highlight on the break, and has electrifying range from downtown. Janiwade on the other hand, is a 6-foot-6 combo guard who has shown the ability to get his shot whenever and shoot over the top of defenses. He's racked up a couple of D-I offers over the last year and these two should make one of the top backcourt in the state next season.

Stadium Tigers

[player_tooltip player_id='1984449' first='Donovan' last='Gill'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1850300' first='Baaroc' last='Rivers']

Stadium was one of the top teams in the 3A from start to finish last season behind this duo in the backcourt. They both return to see if they can push the Tigers a step further and into the state tournament this coming winter. Gill is a dynamic scorer who can pour them in from outside, hit tough shots in the midrange, and has the athletic profile to finish some tricky shots at the rim. Rivers pairs nicely next to Gill with his ability to draw multiple defenders, break down defenses and get to the middle, and as a pest his defensive acumen on the perimeter.

Auburn Trojans

[player_tooltip player_id='1451033' first='Jaylen' last='Petty'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1984463' first='Carter' last='Hansen'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2021598' first='Daniel' last='Johnson'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1863247' first='Chase' last='Mentink']

Petty is one of the best in the state, but Hansen, Johnson, and Mentik have all played key roles alongside him and the four of them make up a backcourt full of shooters. As the younger guys, Johnson and Mentik have looked strong this spring and showed the growth necessary to be more dynamic offensively. Hansen and Petty are guys who will give you max effort every game and can really be disrupters on the defensive end. It's definitely the strength of their squad and these guys should lead the way for the Trojans next winter.

Seattle Prep Panthers

[player_tooltip player_id='1863191' first='Niko' last='Christofilis'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1631540' first='Nirvaan' last='Misra'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1485543' first='Beckham' last='King']

This is a backcourt we've had our eyes on for a couple of years now. They struggled to string wins together last season but this trio's talent is undeniable and they should be a dangerous group this winter. Each has innate shot-making ability but Misra and Christofilis add in impressive playmaking, and King has the length to be a match-up nightmare.

Rainier Beach Vikings

[player_tooltip player_id='1850299' first='Kaden' last='Powers'] / [player_tooltip player_id='1451029' first='Nyale' last='Robinson'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2375353' first='Maceo' last='Rivers']

The runner-ups last year in the 3A, this backcourt returns good balance and three players who all bring something a little different to the floor. Rivers is a hound defensively who has the athleticism and aggression to aggravate ballhandlers and create turnovers at any time. Robinson has shown he can catch fire from long-range but was also one of the most creative passers in the half-court last year. Then there's Powers who is a midrange sharpshooter and a physical guard who can grind defenses down over the course of a game.
