An available 2025 prospect, Petty is one of the top names available to commit and play next season at the college level. I loved the rim pressure Petty had on the court with teams being unable to stay in front of him at the point of attack. Petty also got to the foul line consistently and hit multiple deep 3-pointers in an afternoon win.

The Beach senior is a tough, resilient guard who showed a lot of fight in a tough loss to Annie Wright last week. He led the Viks with 16 points, but more impressively was making plays on the glass (eight rebounds, five offensive), coming through with shot-making in critical moments, and finding ways to keep his team in it with hustle plays.

The recent New Mexico commit has already proven to be among the elite of elites in the state, and after already capturing two NPSL league MVPs and breaking numerous Auburn High School records, it seems all that is left for the star guard is to cap it all off with a State Championship and a Player of the Year nod. Everything is in place for the multi-dimensional guard to achieve both this winter.

Petty had his choices of schools and landed on New Mexico just over a week ago. He’s been one of the biggest risers on the West Coast over the summer, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who has seen the two-time NPSL league MVP. He’s a high-level athlete with elite shot-making ability, and his transfer to Rainier Beach instantaneously made the Vikings a favorite in the 3A.

Jaylen Petty is a confident and creative scorer at all three levels, with a good shooting touch both off the catch and the dribble. He is quick and dynamic, capable of finishing above the rim and showing good touch around the basket with either hand, as well as on floaters. Petty is also a playmaker with good vision and passing ability, making him a versatile offensive threat.
