Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Smooth operator with the ball who was able to put together simple, yet effective combos, change speeds and separate on the perimeter to knock down some shots. Just as effective shooting off the catch, attacking closeouts and getting around contests at the rim with some slick finishes. Then topped off that offensive performance with some fantastic passes, looking off defenders and feeling cuts off some shallow penetration.

Averaged 15.5 ppg to lead his FOH squad at the first EYCL session while shooting 50% from the field and 40.9% from 3PT. Just a very smooth operator with the rock, has a great crossover that covers good ground and he’s got great feet to transition from the dribble to his shot. Showed up in a big way at the state tournament this winter and has continued to raise his stock with an impressive offensive profile.

The clear MVP in both of their games at the Dome, Johnson put up 26 points in the loss to top-seeded Gonzaga Prep and did just about all he could, scoring over half of the Trojans’ points. He poured in four more threes in this one to go along with eight boards and two steals. Johnson showed some elite shot-making against scrappy guards and really took over in the fourth to force an overtime session.

Johnson was real creative and elusive along the perimeter, consistently getting separation and showing off a quick trigger to knock down several step-backs from the perimeter. He also displayed some relentless effort to clean up his own miss inside, getting two consecutive boards while surrounded at the hoop and then finally converting for the bucket plus the foul. He finished with a game-high 23 points while dropping in 4-of-5 3-pointers.
