Was a constant presence in the paint, working off of outside and high post catches to get middle and create. Drew a ton a fouls inside to get to the line for freebies, and was also a key creator for them getting open threes off his paint touches and kickouts. Caused defenses to collapse the middle all weekend. He led them in scoring against West Valley and Tualatin with 19 and 18 points.
A high-level wing who has consistently elevated his game, he brings relentless energy to the court with dynamic, high-impact plays. His ability to throw down powerful dunks and deliver emphatic shot blocks showcases his athletic prowess. Utilizing his impressive length, he skillfully creates separation from defenders, allowing him to score effortlessly. His growth is evident in his smooth offensive execution and commanding presence on both ends of the floor.
The lanky forward has put together a strong opening to the season, showcasing more strength to finish inside, a more confident handle to get to the rim from the perimeter, and an improved jumpshot that helps him create enough stress to keep defenders close. He’s also been a key defender for the Trojans with his length and quickness, and ability to defend the paint.
Has done a great job early in the year of defending different spots on the floor, whether it’s matching up with wings or taking on posts. Even when he was outmatched strength-wise, he did a great job moving his feet, forcing tough shots, and using his length to stay straight up. Has also shown his impact by the rim with some chase-down blocks, big rebounds, and the ability to work to the line. Been working off the bounce on the offensive end a lot more too, and has been able to attack the paint from different spots.
Englund has had a big spring and summer, evolving as a more aggressive and potent offensive player to match his length and athleticism, which have shown up rebounding and blocking shots. He’s done a lot more scoring around the paint and looks poised to have a breakout year for Auburn.
He’s got the size and athleticism to be a real factor on both ends of the floor, and he’s shown a lot more strength and aggression to his game this summer. He should be a legit second option for Auburn offensively and will pose some tough matchups throughout the winter.
He’s been a big riser over the spring and summer, showcasing a much-improved downhill game and looking far more confident and threatening attacking off the bounce. Has a big first step and proved to be quicker than most of the players matching up with him, but was also physical finishing at the rim, converting and-ones, drawing fouls, and really starting to tap into his size and athleticism at the rim.
