Class 2A All-State Teams

First Team   Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id='1253020' first='Zach' last='Lutmer'], Central Lyon (2023) Stats: 20.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.6 steals, 54.1 FG%, 37.2 3P%, 77.5 FT%   The future Iowa football player cemented his legacy at Central Lyon with the school's first state basketball championship (just months after delivering their first football championship in nearly two decades). A dynamic athlete who impacted the game on both ends of the floor, he's a tough, physical guard and a leader on the floor. He was a pretty easy selection for the 2A POY honor after winning the state title.   [player_tooltip player_id='1067659' first='Padraig' last='Gallagher'], Beckman Catholic (2023) Stats: 21.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.5 blocks, 52.1 FG%, 44.1 3P%, 88.0 FT%   Gallagher firmly established himself as one of the best pure scorers in the state over the last few years. A 6-5 wing with a pure stroke, he scored at a highly efficient clip from all three levels, never forces anything, and impacts the game as a playmaker as well, an area of his game that has improved tremendously over the last few years. He's headed to play his college ball at Division II power Northwest Missouri State.   [player_tooltip player_id='1171659' first='Owen' last='Larson'], Estherville Lincoln Central (2024) Stats: 27.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.6 steals, 44.9 FG%, 73.5 FT%   ELC lost a ton of production from last year's team, and Larson was asked to do everything for the Midgets this season. He delivered in a big way, scoring in bunches, getting his teammates involved, and contributing on the glass. His efficiency numbers don't stack up to some of the other players on the first few teams, but he was asked to do everything for ELC, and he had to take a ton of tough, contested shots. He'll head to play his college ball at South Dakota State in two years.   [player_tooltip player_id='1167686' first='Caden' last='Kirkman'], Wilton (2023) Stats: 27.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.7 steals, 2.4 blocks, 66.2 FG%, 70.3 FT%   Kirkman's ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor is a major reason why he's headed to play his college ball at Augustana (SD), and why he has a chance to contribute immediately for the Vikings. A 6-7 forward with outstanding footwork and touch around the rim, he's also a highly gifted passer with fantastic court vision.   [player_tooltip player_id='1367399' first='Andrew' last='Austin'], Central Lyon (2023) Stats: 19.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 61.9 FG%, 34.1 3P%, 72.3 FT%   Lutmer's sidekick for the Lions, Austin was outstanding all year, scoring from all three levels at an efficient clip, and using his length, size, and athleticism to control the glass on both ends of the floor.   Second Team   [player_tooltip player_id='1171677' first='Preston' last='Ries'], Monticello (2024) Stats: 23.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals, 49.1 FG%, 35.8 3P%, 74.8 FT%   While fellow Monticello star [player_tooltip player_id='956879' first='Tate' last='Petersen'] battled a shoulder injury throughout the second half of the season, Ries was able to stay relatively healthy and dominate the game on both ends of the floor, helping lead the Panthers to the state tournament for the fourth straight season. A future Iowa football player with athleticism that is matched by few in the state, he was a dominant force all year.   [player_tooltip player_id='1167698' first='Jacob' last='Hargens'], Sioux Central (2023) Stats: 27.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.8 steals, 63.3 FG%, 36.2 3P%, 69.9 FT%   One of the most explosive scoring threats in the state, Hargens was dominant for the Rebels, pacing an offense that put up points in bunches. An athletic, physical guard who can get to the rim at will, he's also a reliable 3-point shooter and playmaker.   [player_tooltip player_id='1171681' first='Jonovan' last='Wilkinson'], Roland-Story (2024) Stats: 16.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.2 steals, 47.7 FG%   Wilkinson is a Swiss Army knife, a player who will do a little bit of everything for his team. He's a reliable ball-handler and decision-maker who sees the floor well. He has an outstanding mid-range game, he'll contribute on the glass, and he's a really good defender.   [player_tooltip player_id='1167691' first='Garrett' last='Hempen'], Aplington-Parkersburg (2023) Stats: 21.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 51.4 FG%, 46.7 3P%, 87.6 FT%   One of the most efficient shooters in the state, Hempen capped off a stellar career for the Falcons by leading them in scoring and posting 51-47-88 splits in the process. He's a smart guard who uses his physicality to his advantage, bullying smaller defenders on his way to the bucket.   [player_tooltip player_id='1381408' first='Zach' last='Driscoll'], MFL MarMac (2025) Stats: 20.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 4.2 steals, 51.5 FG%, 85.4 FT%   A quick guard with outstanding handles, Driscoll uses that speed to keep defenders off balance and get to the rim for finishes. He has been incredibly productive throughout his first two high school seasons for the Bulldogs, and just keeps adding more to his game every time we see him.
