Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Wells is talented with the ball in his hands as both a scorer and a facilitator. He sees the floor really well, plays with pace, changing speeds well to keep defenders off balance, and he’s a gifted passer. He gets to the rim off the dribble and does a nice job keeping his head up and eyes active, finding open teammates. He averaged 7.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game as a sophomore for the Bulldogs and could become the team’s go-to scorer and playmaker as a junior.

The only thing preventing Wells from being mentioned in the “Five 2027 Standouts” article was how loaded this event was with 2027 talent. He was great throughout the day on both ends of the floor, competing against skilled ball-handlers on the defensive end, moving his feet and using his quick hands and feet to make life difficult for opposing guards. Offensively, he’s a really good passer and playmaker off the dribble, seeing the floor well and getting his teammates involved at a high level. He can finish through contact with either hand around the rim and is a capable 3-point shooting threat.

The Iowa product played the point guard position to a tee. Great overall skill-set and understanding and feel for the position. He could easily be a first team selection but some higher rated prospects made the cut. His finishing ability stood out, because he was able to get off the ground well to get near the rim. He could easily blow by his matchup with an elite couple first steps. Quick defensive player and hands and stayed in front of his matchup.
