Starting off this 2023-2024 season we had a lot of stand out performances from players all across the state. The one that stood out to me the most in our first week of games was the performance put on by

of Roland-Story High School. Wilkinson is a natural shooting guard in my opinion but he also has the ability to bring up the ball or even move to the 3 spot in most situations. In his teams first game against Gilbert High School, they came away with a 95-90 win in triple overtime. Wilkinson ended the contest with 44 points on 14/26 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists. Since this event, Wilkinson has slowed down compared to scoring 44 a game but he still is averaging 27 and 10. He may not have been a player that was considered for Iowa’s High School POTY to start this season but at this point, his production can’t be ignored. He is putting up some great numbers across the board and his team is undefeated, that’s all that really matters right now.

Wilkinson is one of the best two-way players in the class, a good on-ball and team defender who communicates extremely well on that end of the floor. He has the athleticism and quickness to defend smaller players, and the toughness and physicality to bang against bigger bodies in the paint. Offensively, he’s fantastic at getting to his spots, especially in the mid-range, showcasing one of the best mid-range games in the state. Throughout the summer, he showed increased confidence in his range, showing improvement from behind the arc, and if that holds up into the high school season, he’ll have a huge senior year. He averaged 16.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.2 steals a game as a junior.

Crafty player with a lot of finesse to go along with all of his skill. Sneaky athletic and lengthy once he gets into the lane while going toward the basket. Active hands on both sides of the floor. He tends to get a lot of tips/deflection because of those active hands. Very good with pace and tempo while attacking his opponent. Sees the floor well while alway keeping his head up. Communicates well through screens and other defensive situations for the most part.
