The prestigious King of the Bluegrass tips off on Friday and runs through Monday at Fairdale. The slate is loaded with talented teams from across the state. Here's a look at players to watch on Saturday.

Great Crossing vs Spencer County

Probably the youngest team in the state, Great Crossing has 10 Sophomores on the varsity roster. [player_tooltip player_id='1130310' first='Malachi' last='Moreno'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1110323' first='Vince' last='Dawson'] combine for 34 points per game and both hold multiple D1 offers. Moreno is a top 75 ranked player depending on where you look nationally. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1320254' first='Jeremiah' last='Godfrey'] and Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='939114' first='Junius' last='Burrell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1208167' first='Gage' last='Richardson'] round out the starting 5 and all are capable of big scoring games.

The Spencer County Bears live and die by the three pointer and are led by a talented Junior class. [player_tooltip player_id='1123568' first='Luke' last='Erhardt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1363685' first='Camden' last='Cox'] combine for almost 40 points per game while Jack Armstrong, [player_tooltip player_id='1287891' first='Keaton' last='Baird'] and Jonathan Combs are all big contributors who have helped Spencer to get off to a 5-1 start.

George Rogers Clark vs Male

The reigning state champions are led by Morehead State commit [player_tooltip player_id='692930' first='Jerone' last='Morton'] and versatile 6'8 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1108411' first='Trent' last='Edwards']. [player_tooltip player_id='1033474' first='Sam' last='Parrish'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2233289' first='Reshaun' last='Hampton'] are both versatile guards who can get hot in a hurry. Parrish is a tough driver while Hampton is a big time shooter. GRC has almost no depth on their bench so look for Coach Cook to rely heavily on a 6 or 7 man rotation at most.

The Male Bulldogs are fueled by the Edelen brothers as Jack and [player_tooltip player_id='1359140' first='Cole' last='Edelen'] do the majority of the shooting and the scoring for Coach Haworth's squad. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1065569' first='Meechie' last='White'] is the other Male guard averaging double figures. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2393688' first='Jayson' last='Gasaway'] has a chance to develop into a nice player and could have a big role for Male this weekend if they put together a good run.

Harlan County vs Lyon County

My favorite Saturday matchup is in prime time as [player_tooltip player_id='939116' first='Trent' last='Noah'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1130313' first='Maddox' last='Huff'] make the drive from Harlan to Louisville. Noah is averaging 29 points and 12 rebounds per game with shooting splits of 57-40-81 and will look to show he should be in the conversation for the top player in Kentucky's 2024 class this weekend. Huff is a solid secondary scorer who is putting up 15 per game. There is virtually no depth for the Black Bears so expect a lot of zone defense and few subs.

Lyon County rolls into Louisville with a loaded 2024 class led by nationally ranked guard [player_tooltip player_id='939117' first='Travis' last='Perry']. [player_tooltip player_id='1088820' first='Brady' last='Shoulders'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1221721' first='Jack' last='Reddick'] combine for 39 points per game and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1543608' first='Bray' last='Kirk'] is averaging 8 points per game. The Lyons also have very little depth so don't expect many substitutions for either team on Saturday. The Perry vs Noah matchup is likely to draw a lot of eyes on Saturday night but Huff vs Reddick may be the matchup that makes a difference.
