Possibly the best shooter at the point guard position in this class, Edelen made the most of an abbreviated season after he returned to Louisville from OTE. Cole averaged 19 points per game and shot just under 42% from three for the year. He’s headed to Western Kentucky in the fall.

Cole led the Bruins to the 7th Region title game and finished with one of the best resumes in KHSAA basketball history. He put on a scoring masterclass in Ballard’s semifinal matchup, pouring in 15 of his 18 points in the third quarter alone. Whether he was knocking down step back 3PT field goals or wiggling his way to the basket for crafty finishes, Cole literally couldn’t be stopped. We all know that basketball is a team sport, but this performance looked like a one man show for a second.

is one of the top shooters in the state, ranking 11th in three-pointers made per game at 3.5. In 17 games this season, he’s 60-for-152 from deep (39.5%). Edelen has the ability to heat up quickly, not just generating attempts but converting them in bunches. He has a strong feel for the game, uses screens effectively, and is capable of knocking down tough, contested shots. With his overall scoring ability, he’s also highly effective in catch-and-shoot situations.

The first of two WKU commits in this article, Edelen is also in the OTE league system with the Blue Checks. Edelen was a teammate of Kinney’s with Wildcat Select this summer and is one of the elite shooters in the country. Cole will be joining his older brother Jack in Bowling Green as the Hilltoppers have done an excellent job in keeping top in-state talent.

A tough loss for Wildcat select in overtime, I actually think this will focus the squad for a push in bracket play that starts tomorrow. Edelen had a big second half that was capitalized by back-to-back 3-pointers that turned a 4 point deficit into a 2 point lead late in the game. Edelen also made a couple plays in the pick and roll to swing the ball from side to side and get others involved. Despite the tough loss in the end, Edelen still stood out with 18 points on 5/8 from 3-point range on Wednesday.

Cole slide up from 6th to 2nd on the heels of a good AAU spring. Now that he’s healthy after missing a lot of his Junior high school season, Edelen is back to his usual high scoring self. Cole recently picked up an offer from Pittsburgh after the May live period and could very well get more high major offers over the next few months.

Edelen impressed with his ability to score from behind the arc. He showed that if he is in a grove good luck stopping him. Edelen also has a good pulse of the game and can set others up for scoring chances of their own. Edelen does a good job using ball screens and can either score for himself or look to find others. I like the way he can turn the corner on the attack. He is at his best in the half-court. He has the ability to play both guard spots and is really effective in a multi guard line up.
