Qyntin made his Dirt Bowl debut last Saturday and was just as poised as he is when playing against his peers. He knocked down shots from long range at a more efficient rate than any one on the court. He finished with a team-high 13pts despite the fact that it was his first game with the GP Thunder. “State” was the only thing on his mind when asked about where his head is at for his upcoming sophomore campaign. If he continues to be one of the best shooters in Kentucky regardless of class, the Bruins will surely have a good shot at getting to Rupp next season.
Ballard had a lot of success this weekend with one of the deepest and most talented groups in the state and Woods had a big weekend for their team. Woods shoots an extremely high percentage off the catch and his Ballard teammates did a nice job finding him when he was open. Most importantly, Woods played with confidence with the ball in his hands, looking to score first and find an open teammate when that option was taken away. When Woods is at his best it’s when he’s working off of guys like Baron ClayBaronClay

and taking shots with his feet set. Woods did that a lot this weekend and that’s why he’s listed as a standout from the weekend.
Staying with Ballard, Woods had a really good showing on the whole for the weekend. He’s got a lightning quick release and deep range on his jumper. He needs to continue developing the parts of his game that aren’t shooting threes but he has a bright future.
The 6’1” 2029 Guard from Ballard came up with some big time plays in the second half of the Bruins win over Ben Davis (IN) in the first game of the day. Talented offensive scorer that plays within himself. He’s capable of playing on or off the ball. He does a good job taking what the defense gives him and attacks hard. Was able to connect on three catch and shoot 3’s late. Possesses a clean, repeatable stroke. Was really good on defensive end. Longer wingspan that allows him to play passing lanes, pressure ball handlers, and rebound from the guard spot.
One of the best shooters I’ve seen in the 2029 class, Woods is capable of heating up quickly on the offensive end. Qyntin will need to grow to become a collegiate wing. His future could be playing more on the ball as a point guard. Regardless of the future, Woods’ currently is one of the best players in the class and is in the mix to be the best shooter in 2029.
Qyntin is coming off of a breakout freshman school ball season during which he emerged as one of the top shooters and rebounding guards in Kentucky. Seemingly at least 6’2″ now, Q’s upside is through the roof especially as his ball handling and athleticism continues to evolve. Known for his catch and shoot abilities from deep, Q is more than capable of creating for himself and his teammates off the dribble. You won’t see too many wasted movements, which makes him a tough cover for his age group. He showcased a little bit of everything at Spooky Nook last weekend.
Woods had a big game for Phenom United as he scored the ball in a variety of ways. To open the game, Woods hit a pull-up 3-pointer in transition and knocked down a pair of time and space 3-pointers on the wing later in the game. Woods also had a drop step layup against a smaller guard and scored off a baseline cut to the rim. Hoping to see Woods impact the game in more ways than just scoring the ball as I continue to watch this Phenom United 15 U group this grassroots season.
Qyntin filled big shoes for a Ballard squad that essentially replaced a majority of its production from last season. Although only a freshman, he proved to be ready for the moment and ended the season as one of the best long-distance shooters in the entire state. It was his go-ahead layup that allowed Ballard to prevail in overtime past a tight quarterfinal matchup and eventually reach the region title game. Woods was a double-digit scorer for the Bruins throughout the tournament as well as a key contributor on the boards.

is averaging 2.7 three-pointers per game while shooting 40.9% from deep (67-for-164) this season. He has a knack for hitting shots in big moments and can create his own looks just as comfortably as he can score in catch-and-shoot situations. No matter the attempt, Woods shoots with confidence. It doesn’t take much for him to heat up, and once he does, he can knock down threes in bunches. In a key win over Jeffersontown, he went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc, and earlier in the season against Manual, he connected on 7-of-10 from long range.
The Freshman Guard for Louisville Ballard is mature beyond his years with his playmaking and shot making ability. Down the stretch he was the beneficiary of some good finds where he knocked down a couple 3’s in big moments as St. X was making their comeback. He’s a well built guard that had the ability to get to his spots and make plays for himself as well as being unselfish and making plays for others.
