Caison Cole
Caison Cole
Under second year head coach Cory Cole, the Tigers often looked impressive during November scrimmages. They’re a big team across the board but it’s the coach’s son with his efficient and cerebral playing style that will keep the Tigers running. Last year when watching Cole, he rarely took a poor shot and even hit timely ones when they recorded a signature win in January over eventual Class 6A champs, Edmond North.
One of the best shooters in the state, Pratt has been bombing threes since he was a freshman for the 5A powerhouse. This year he should break 200 three pointers for his career and shoot his way into the 1k point club. And if his opening heroics to force overtime against Tulsa Hale were any indication, he’ll be looking to make his mark in the Chargers’ record books in style, while also chasing a second Gold Ball.
Continuing the theme of elite shooters, the UCO signee is another flamethrower from beyond the arc. The lefty has a compact and quick motion, which means he does not need much space to hit from beyond the arc. And once he has that brief space, it does. not take much time either for him to heat up either. Add in a strong frame that allows him to take contact off the bounce, and Barber will be one of the best scorers in Oklahoma for a Jaguars team that looks to be on the cusp of being a State Tournament contender in 6A.

While Valentine can also fill it up from beyond the arc, he has a deep bag when it comes to scoring ability. He has a smooth floater game off the bounce and can also post up smaller guards to hit fadeaways. Choctaw is an athletic and balanced team, but if the Yellowjackets are to breakthrough a deep Class 6A it’ll be Valentine building off strong freshmen and sophomore campaigns.

One of the best scorers in Tulsa, Lewis is looking to take his reputation state wide for a talented Ranger squad. He’s another player that got his season off to an early start and impressively added 7 assists to his boxscore in a narrow loss to Hale. Combined with rising sophomore Damrio Adams, Lewis looks ready to adding winning to his resume. An important part of an All Stater resume.
Highlights
One of the state’s best football prospects, Jacobe Johnson Jacobe Johnson 6’3″ | SG Mustang | 2023 State OK has long been one of the most talented scorers in the Class 0f 2023. Now before heading off to Norman to put on the pads, Johnson will have one last dance on the high school hardwood. After the graduation of elite shooter Ethan Scott, Johnson’s scoring average will have a chance to jump from 16 a game to into the 20s.
Last year on a talented Del City team, Green kept popping up and hitting perimeter shots to provide spacing for the tall and athletic Eagles. By the State Tournament last year, he was a key part of the offense, even operating well in the midrange. After a strong summer, Green will play a huge role as a ballhandler and shotmaker for the Class 5A favorites Eagles.
After breaking out as a sophomore, Fields will be one of the most dynamic players in the state thanks to his blazing end to end speed. He’s a terror on defense because of that athletic ability and motor. While he often feasts in transition, he’s also able to break down defenses in the halfcourt with his quick first step and strength to finish at the rim.
A newcomer to Putnam City North, CJ Smith CJ Smith 6’7″ | SF Putnam City North | 2023 State OK brings size, athleticism and State Tournament (Class 4A) experience to the Panthers. Smith has always flashed high upside play, but has not consistently put together the raw tools that he’s been blessed with. That looks to be changing with a challenging summer on the EYBL circuit being a catalyst to an impressive November preseason. Which should lead to an impressive senior campaign.
Among the players on this list, Hjelmstad likely has the lightest high school resume when it comes to raw production. After excelling in his role for one of the top programs in Oklahoma, the versatile scoring forward looks poised to excel in more of a staring role. In November scrimmages, the Pittsburgh State signee looked much more comfortable as a shooter with a smooth stroke from beyond the arc. Mixing in shooting with his blue collar rebounding and drives will have the physical forward among Oklahoma’s best.
