Mott has made one of the biggest jumps of any prospect in Oklahoma’s Class of 2024. As a sophomore there was clearly something there with his upside, and now as he rounds the corner of his high school career he looks ready to fully unleash that potential. In last year’s Class 5A title game he battled well against a McDonald’s All American center, and now will be the “bully” on the block for the favorites in 5A, Carl Albert. Explosive slams, pinning shots on the backboard and more are expected from physically gifted Northern Illinois signee.

The recent Northern Illinois signee looked dominant for Carl Albert in early action at Solid Rock. He was strong, quick and powerful around the rim. His mid-range touch was still hit or miss but the focus he had to dominant the paint on both ends of the court was an impressive sign of what could be a 5A State Player of the Year type senior season. One particular individual moment stood out, Mott had a steal around mid-court, went behind the back to avoid a defender than finished with a thunderous slam.

One of the most gifted post players in the state is set for a huge senior season. He has a huge wingspan and great lateral agility for a player his size, meaning that along with his rim protection he has great defensive versatility to cover smaller guards. Mott has steadily been adding touch and skill to his offensive game to go along with his highlight reel making ability with big time slams. If the senior dominates the paint on both ends of the court like he should, there’s a good chance he’ll be celebrating with a Gold Ball in the Lloyd Noble Center in March.

A lanky and powerful forward prospect, Mott had a strong junior campaign as the defensive anchor for 5A runner up Carl Albert. He’s a strong rebounder and is continuing to develop as a shot blocker. There’s upside to be a pick and roll/rim running monster, as he’s light on his feet with his movements. An ankle injury appeared to slow him at UCO team camp this past week, but his combination of height, wingspan and athleticism is hard to ignore.

The upside big man from Carl Albert is playing with Missouri program, Michael Porter Jr Elite. After a strong junior campaign, where his ease of movement, rebounding and shot blocking skills were often on display; Mott looks poised for a very productive spring and summer. His combination of size, athleticism and wingspan gives him one of the higher upsides in Oklahoma’s class of 2024.

is an athletic slasher and inside presence that keeps opponents up at night. Mott’s ability to move without the ball makes him a great candidate for back door lobs and easy finds under the rim where he is nearly unstoppable when going to finish. Jayden’s length is accompanied with a tenacious desire for crashing the boards and staying defensively active; whether its sending shots away or being active with his hands and coming up with steals to start the break. Mott’s is a dirty work big man that was vital in Carl Albert’s Sate Championship appearance and will have plenty opportunity for growth as he looks to ring more to the table for the team next season.

has transformed into an absolute beast over the last 12 months and he’s part of Carl Albert’s “Big Three” that has the Titans once again in the state championship conversation. Mott’s touch around the basket has improved greatly and there aren’t many opponents that have been able to bang with Mott in the paint and win those battles. The one thing we want to see from Mott moving forward is becoming more consistent as a dominant presence for the Titans. He has that ability and we’ve seen it several times this season. We just want to see him show more of it on a regular basis.

The junior forward had his hard hat on with 12 rebounds in the game. With an impressive 6 coming on the offensive end against a strong and physical North team. Mott is blessed with a strong frame and huge wingspan, and it was good to see him put that to use with high motor play around the rim. He also added 8 points to his rebounding total. On the room for improvement front, Mott needs to play through contact better as a finisher. When he has a clear lane, it’s an auto dunk. But he has had some struggles with contested looks. Along with needing to be stronger and more fundamental with his footwork to limit turnovers.

On the same day that we released an article that projected five players turning into stars this season, we got a good chance to see one of them in action. Carl Albert got a big win over a Northwest Classen team that was riding high after upsetting Del City late last week. The Titans were led by junior big man

, who is turning into an absolute monster in the paint for the Titans. He helped lead them to the win with 18 points and does appear to be taking the next step as not only a player but as a prospect as well. As his game continues to grow and he continues to add more elements, Mott is going to be yet another star in the state’s 2024 class, that appears to be getting deeper and deeper every month.

Last season Carl Albert broke in 5 starters and it was many of the new members of their backcourt that made big production waves as the Titans would make a run to the Class 5A State Semifinals. Still there was a lanky 6 foot 6 sophomore in the starting line up that showed enough flashes, especially with his light on the feet movement to hint that he might have the highest ceiling of the bunch.
Now at 6 foot 8 and with a filled out frame to match his height and athleticism, Mott has a the opportunity to be a D1 level recruit. So far this young season that has been most noticeable when he protects the rim with blocks or finishes with thunderous slams. He also has a sneaky knack to excel as a passer, which helps open up the Titans offense with passing out of the high post or kicking it out to open shooters. An important growth benchmark for Mott in the next 6 months will be his finishing through contact and improving his touch on scores.
