Hopgood played well. He has been consistent in his role for the Wolves, lived in the paint vs BA getting offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds. He was every where! Hopgood used his frame to position himself in the best scoring position possible. Every time he received the ball in the post he went up strong and always kept the ball high.
I really believe he could’ve made the win a bit more easier of Santa Fe got him the ball a little more in the paint when BA switched into their matchup zone. Hopgood has a really great upside as he is only a sophomore, who has some really good fundamentals and awareness. Every game he’s on the glass, running the floor and posting up trying to make things work. He’ll be a force for the next two years.

The Wolves rolled in the night cap with multiple players in double figures. It was also their first viewing of their new addition, Hopgood. The transfer from Bristow immediately made his presence known around the rim on the defensive end. Swatting multiple shots during his first stint in the first half. Even had one stretch where he recorded a block, then ran down the floor and scored on the other end. Was effective around the basket, by getting deep position and making himself available to his teammates. His shooting touch was a bit off compared to other viewings where he had shown promise in the mid-range. Eager to watch Hopgood shake off the rust and continue to develop as part of the Wolves’ exciting sophomore core.

The high upside big man had a big contest with 16 points and 8 rebounds in a match up against NW Rotary. His production included a pair of threes, a very promising sign for his game. As previous viewings had indicated there was promise to his shooting touch. He’s a broad shouldered prospect, with old school aspects to his game. But clearly can fit into modern basketball with his athleticism and continual work on his jumper.

Already an above the rim player. Hopgood’s current standout abilities are as a glass cleaner and rim protector. He’s very fluid for his size, making him a transition and lob threat. Good promise offensive touch in the mid-range. He’s already an absolute problem at the small school level with Bristow. While also being an anchor at the national level with Nike EYBL program, ProSkills.

Brian Hopgood Jr. stood out as a long, explosive vertical leaper who challenged everything at the rim. Displayed an elite first, second, and third jump, springing off the floor effortlessly and staying active as a shot disruptor. His length and timing made him a nightmare for shooters, often altering or blocking shots before they left the hand. Constantly engaged defensively, using his wingspan and bounce to protect the paint with force.

One of the best individual performances by any Oklahoman over the weekend came when Hopgood scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a tough game against LivOn. Had the opportunity to watch a portion chunk of that game, and the live action more than backed up the box score. Along with being a gifted athlete for his size, Hopgood had it going in the mid-range. Was a problem in the low block, but also routinely hitting jumpers around the free throw line. He already had a size and athletic advantage, so it was a great sign to see the touch and form from the mid-range. Often young bigs can lean too much on their size and their development can stagnant. But with a father who had a very successful playing career, it shouldn’t be shocking to see Hopgood continue to add to his game. Which is scary, because has the chance to be a dominant force in Oklahoma.

Hopgood has a chance to be the most dominating interior presence in Oklahoma. Still growing with a plus wingspan, he’s a light on his feet player. Who runs the floor hard and is quickly turning into an above the rim player with blocks and dunks. Finished the season with a monstrous 24 point and 13 rebound performance against a State Tournament team. Considering his father’s athletic background and the physical signs Hopgood is already showing, its entirely possibly his long term potential is currently being undervalued.

Long armed, light on his feet forward, with the potential to dominate the paint on both ends of the court. Early Hudl highlights pinpoint him as having good instincts and timing as a shot blocker. Good potential as a back to the basket player as well, with ball fakes and improving footwork, which checks out as he’s the son of a coach. Huge upside for Hopgood, as he comes from a basketball pedigree and looks the part of a future D1 forward.
