The Regionals defeat brought a close to Padilla’s productive high school career. Even though it was his third game in three nights (with the previous two being overtime battles), the senior dug deep during a spirited fourth quarter comeback. He hit giant killer shots over the long arms of the taller Rayfield and even took a charge in transition as he left it all on the line. The remains one of Oklahoma’s top available unsigned point guards. His quickness and ability to finish efficiently for a smaller guard makes him play much bigger than his size.

Elite handles, pace and scoring ability make the 580 standout one of the most entertaining players to watch. He can be a one man press break, and in the halfcourt he often keeps defenders on their heels with his outstanding quickness. Padilla is equally adept at driving to score himself (where he has a great floater) or create for his teammates. The Wolverines will be in the mix to make a run at the Class 6A State Tournament this year and the senior lead guard will be a huge reason why.

was the ultimate competitor on the court. He looked like a supreme athlete with next-level speed, quickness, hops, build, and physicality. He changed gears and accelerated in a blink of an eye which consistently got him the basket and into the teeth of the defense. Once inside, Padilla showed power and the wherewithal to initiate contact on his way up, which usually resulted in And-1 calls or shooting fouls. Madden also proved to be a gifted finisher with both hands along with a bag full of reverse and switch layups. As a high-speed point guard, he played at a fast pace, pushing the tempo all game long. Madden had a tremendous handle of the rock, and his ball skills gave him the ability to handle all sorts of pressure, whether it was tight one-on-one defense or double teams. Padilla showcased great poise as he changed gears and threw defenders off balance with his ankle-breaking shiftiness. Another way Madden impacted each game was as a facilitator, he shook the defense up with his extremely quick passing as he saw the game two steps ahead. If a teammate was open, he made sure to hit them immediately.

The Lawton Wolverine has been a fun watch this grassroots and team camp season. When watching Padilla in the past, he felt like a gunner who was trying to improve point guard aspects of the game. He’s still a scorer with juice from beyond the arc and an arsenal of “giant killer” finishes at the rim. But with Lawton he has developed great chemistry off ball screens and overall pulling the strings for a Wolverine team that has the returning talent to make some serious noise this winter.

One of the more complete guards in the state, Padilla continues to produce. He picked his spots offensively, becoming more and more comfortable as a distributor. Including rifling some great passes to teammates with precision and velocity. While he can still fill it up in spurts, the improved patience and overall feel in the halfcourt have been great additions to his toolset.

The up tempo, energetic 2024 guard stood out when he brought the fire to start the day on Sunday morning. Padilla has always been an explosive scorer with a good jumper that he can pull from deeper, or a crafty finishing game for a smaller guard. But in this game against Primetime, he was also impressive with some of the reads he made in pick’n roll and passing to cutting teammates. There were also some moments where he showed a better understanding of pace on drives. Where instead of pushing it at 100 mph into the teeth of the defense, he was more patient, switching up speeds, eventually finding his teammates for good looks instead of forcing bad looks.

, who finished with 27 points in the win over his former team. Padilla can absolutely light up any gym he steps foot into as one of the top shooters in the state. We’re excited to see Padilla and the Wolverines this week when they participate in the John Nobles tournament in Moore. There are several tournaments that are stacked with state tournament contenders and the John Nobles tourney is one of them.

would lead the Wolverines, averaging nearly 17 points per game. The Wolverines got everyone’s attention on Friday when they knocked off 5A champion Memorial in the semifinals. The Wolverines would follow it up with a win over Putnam City in the title game. Padilla is one of the best shooters in southern Oklahoma and he showcased that throughout the week. It’s time to start taking the Wolverines seriously in Class 6A. The Wolverines are now 5-0 on the season and they will host Choctaw on Saturday before winter break.
