-Bahr moved into the top 10 of our VA rankings after a breakout season as a vital piece to the puzzle for a PVI team that finished 33-3 on the season. Bahr’s rebounding (6 offensive) kept the game close late for the Panthers as he turned in another selfless performance on the glass. His defensive versatility as a wing that can apply ball pressure in double teams on guards on the wings or bigs on the block generated the turnovers needed to get PVI’s transition engine going. Bahr will likely be focused mainly on the diamond as a high level baseball prospect, but we expect him to be a big contributor for PVI basketball this summer and in the fall!

Bahr was an invaluable complementary piece for one of the nation’s top teams as a sophomore. The 6’5 wing plays with a high basketball IQ, making smart decisions with the ball while contributing as a passer, defender, and timely scorer. He understands his role, impacts the game without needing high volume touches, and consistently makes winning plays. Expect Bahr’s recruitment to continue trending upward as college programs value his versatility, feel, and ability to fit into a high-level system.

. Ryan was terrific, getting to the rim with an array of dribble moves and spins. He had some crafty finishes and was everywhere on the glass, as well as on defense. In the final, Ryan knocked down a three, and his put-back lay-in tied the game late, which ultimately sent it to overtime. I loved what he did, crashing the boards late, and after the past few days at American, Ryan’s stock definitely has to be up.

Just as he has for the better part of the entire season for the nationally-ranked Panthers, Bahr impressed with his innate ability to impact the game and stuff the stat sheet without needing to score or have his number called. Bahr scored just 2 points in PVI’s win but had fingerprints all over the game, reflected in the box score with 7 rebounds and 5 assists to go with a pair of steals and blocks. The high-IQ complementary wing was effective making decisions as a release valve against the McNamara press and even showed flashes operating as a primary ballhandler in the halfcourt. He also shows great hands as an instinctive playmaker on the defensive end. A high-level baseball recruit, Bahr is continuing to establish his value on the hardwood as an underclassman starter and key contributor on one of the nation’s best teams.,

The ultimate unsung hero of any team in the DMV, Bahr’s efficient scoring and ability to touch any positive category on the box score has been evident this season. He brings positional size to hover between either forward position, brings elite timing and instincts as a cutter and can make things happen in quick 1-to-2 dribble attacks while making sound decisions as a passer. All of which were on display in PVI’s strong win over Oak Hill on Saturday night while Bahr scored his 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Bahr seems to always be in the right place at the right time and have the IQ to make the right read in any scenario he’s put in.

Bahr is the ultimate connector for the Panthers, impacting the game in a variety of ways without needing plays called for him. He defends with energy, moves the ball well as a passer, cuts effectively, and can step into shots when opportunities present themselves. Bahr also shows the ability to score when needed, making him a versatile piece within the offense. As his role continues to expand in the coming years, he will be an intriguing prospect to track.

The unsung hero of this Paul VI team has to be Bahr. The 6-foot-4 wing won’t have a single play ran specifically for him, but that isn’t necessary. His instincts as an off-ball mover as he hovers around the perimeter, makes sharp cuts when drivers pick up their dribble, or sneakily dives in for offensive put-backs are all aspects that help this PVI team take the life out of opponents. Another aspect of Bahr’s game that stood out to me over the course of their championship run was his defense. Bahr guarded multiple positions over the four-game run and while his lateral speed isn’t lighting quick, he understands angles and how to use his length effectively to cause deflections, alter shots from anywhere on the floor, or simply lead his man into a dead spot within their defensive scheme. Every championship needs a player like Bahr who comes into the game expecting nothing, but ends up touching a handful of box score categories while also supplying endless winning plays that hold louder impact than what can be shown on a stat sheet.

The Prolific Prep game was a coming out party for the 6-5 sophomore. He’s a natural glue-guy and an incredibly selfless player who consistently adapts to team needs on both ends of the floor. Bahr reliably secures rebounds, defends multiple positions, and fills in the gaps as an all-around offensive cog. He’s a useful scorer from all levels and finds opportunities within the flow of the action. Bahr is a capable perimeter shooter and quality finisher through contact. He’s an incredible teammate who always seems to step up in key moments. Ryan is also big-time baseball prospects as well.
