In a guard dominated event Owen may not have gotten a ton of post touches, but he still showed some flashes of potential throughout the game. At 6’8-6’9 he can get off the floor quickly, which allows him to throw down dunks in the open floor or contest shots on the defensive end. He has a chance to be one of the best shot blockers in the state as he has good timing, does a nice job of contesting straight up, and is agile enough to move into the right spots to contest. Put in the effort to run rim-to-rim consistently throughout the game.

The big man is up to 6’9″! Owen runs with Minnesota Heat GVR. He is a fruitful rebounder and he is an effective defender. Ahlbrecht has top-notch footwork. Owen is also a tough matchup in the two-man game.

At 6’8, Owen continues to emerge as a rim protecting threat with some low-post skill on the offensive end. He has good mobility at his size, able to put himself in the right spots to make plays as a shot blocker. Against M14 he showcased good timing getting off the floor, and the ability to go straight up to avoid fouling while tipping/altering shots. Offensively he showed the hands and coordination to score out of pick & rolls in traffic, and when left isolated on the block he can finish at a high percentage with a baby hook over his left shoulder.

Owen is yet another post prospect to keep an eye on in Minnesota’s 2027 class. The 6’8 big out of Rogers had an impressive showing in the 8am game for Minnesota Heat . He scored at the rim four times within the opening minutes of the game, showing a blend of strength and footwork that allowed him to go to work when left isolated on the block. He was active on the offensive glass throughout the game, and did a nice job of keeping the ball high while quickly getting off the floor for second chance buckets. Mobile enough to run the floor hard and make plays rolling to the basket.

Owen stood out because of his overall size. Standing at 6’8” and a fairly sizable frame. High-pointing the ball over his opponents for the ball in the air was no problem.
