One of the best wing shot creators in the state, Izayah had some impressive moments for Minnesota Heat on Saturday. He’s done a good job of improving his shot selection, and in doing so is becoming a much more efficient scorer. Throughout the day Izayah was hitting shots at all three levels, and was much more aggressive attacking the basket compared to settling for tough jumpers like he would in past years. Has the combination of size, quickness on the ball, and touch on his jumper that makes him dangerous in isolation.

Izayah Cook is a must-watch heading into Battle At The Lakes after a huge showing at the Scheels event. The Wayzata and MN Heat GVR standout was extremely tough to contain, especially in the open floor, where his athleticism and speed took over games. Cook is a dynamic playmaker who can put pressure on defenses in a hurry. He thrives in transition, finishes above the rim, and has the ability to pile up points in bunches. Beyond the scoring, he brings an energy and explosiveness that can completely shift momentum. Cook’s elite athleticism and ability to dominate in the open court make him a constant highlight threatand a player capable of taking over games at any moment.

Izayah has been establishing himself as one of the best wings in the 2027 class, and showed why in a pair of wins on Sunday. Once he got into a rhythm, there wasn’t much defenders could do to stop him. He looks the part of a true three-level scorer, as he showcased an impressive pull-up jumper from mid-range, the ability to hit threes off the catch, and Izayah also utilized his 6’5 frame to finish through contact inside. His ability to break defenders down and create his own shots off the dribble is something you don’t see much out of young players his size, and he’s showing the potential to develop into a lethal scorer down the road.

Izayah wasn’t at the Sophomore ID Camp, but was playing up with the juniors/seniors this past weekend at The Expo. He was one of the most productive players I saw, scoring in bunches and also dishing out a number of assists. He plays with pace on the ball you don’t often see from guys his size, able to weave in-and-out of tight spaces to get to the rim or to his spots for a pull-up jumper. Showed good vision to set up his teammates in the open floor as well. Izayah also showed a level of explosiveness I didn’t know he had, throwing down a one handed dunk over a defender. Can be a bit inefficient at times as he does take some tough shots, but when he settles in and keeps his game simple he’s very productive.

Everytime I see Izayah play, I see his athleticism take another step forward. He was dunking everything on Sunday, making a highlight reel play everytime he was in the open floor. He was also going to work in isolation, getting downhill to finish through contact or to create separation for a shot from the perimeter. Cook is a really unique prospect, with an intriguing blend of athleticism, shooting, and ball handling abilities.
