Merrick got on our radars to finish off the year last year for Arapahoe as their go-to option and a player who could have some big nights, but we saw him few times this Summer and he looks poised for an even bigger role and I bet he has a better overall season. Franks has a solid frame and looks to attack now and Arapahoe runs their offense through him right now. He rises over the top for mid range shots, he creatively finishes around the basket and is a microwave scorer. Now it’s about having those big scoring games on a more consistent basis and also taking all of the attention that defenses give him into scoring opportunities for himself or teammates. I believe he’ll make a leap from what we seen and now it’s about taking that into the season and showing it as well. Merrick will go into our rankings this week in the Top-100 with room to grow even higher. 

Franks is one of the true under the radar prospects heading into the season and could be a key piece for Arapahoe. He finished last year averaging 7.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, but his production only tells part of the story. Franks showed flashes of his potential with several explosive performances late in the season, giving a glimpse of what he could become with an expanded role. An athletic and competitive player, he impacts the game on both ends of the floor and consistently brings energy and effort. Offensively he plays within himself, takes quality shots and shoots a high percentage. With his confidence growing and opportunities increasing, Franks has the tools to emerge as one of the breakout players in the league this season

This was my first time getting eyes on Merrick Franks Merrick Franks 6'3" | SG Arapahoe | 2028 State CO , and I liked what I saw. He’s a skilled guard who, once the game slows down and settles down for him he’s going to be quite the player. He showed flashes of that this weekend, where he went on scoring runs by himself. He attacks the PnR and either shoots it or gets to the rim; he can hit the 3-ball, and he also reads the court for drop-off passes. Franks is a natural scorer, and Arapahoe is going to need to put the ball in his hands. He demands so much attention that he can be a playmaker that lights it up when he’s in a rhythm, but will have to trust in teammates, as it will allow him to score a bit easier as well. I liked the pace at which he played and the aggression, and he’s going to be a player to watch moving forward.
