Abbey’s defense was impossible to overlook, as he stayed locked in and consistently found ways to disrupt opposing offenses. He navigated screens well, created turnovers, and used his activity to turn defensive plays into opportunities going the other way. Offensively Abbey showed more versatility than his defensive reputation might suggest, making the extra pass and displaying some crafty finishes around the basket. He was comfortable playing with his back to the basket and showed good movement and footwork in the paint. His defensive motor will be his calling card, but there are offensive flashes worth monitoring

Abbey was one of the more intriguing prospects we saw in 14U at Mile High Madness as he brings two-way capabilities who can speed guys up, he makes defensive reads that turns into baskets the other way, and he stays in front of his man. That certainly stood out for us, and then he turned it on offensively as well as a guard who attacks off the dribble, is comfortable with the ball in his hands, and started to break defenders down and had blow-by finishes. That’s something we’d love to see at the showcase!

Abbey provided an immediate spark with his energy and two-way impact throughout the event. Defensively, he competed at a high level on the ball, making opposing guards work for every possession. On the offensive end, he attacked the basket with confidence, finishing through contact and converting opportunities around the rim. Abbey also excelled in transition, pushing the pace and creating scoring chances before the defense could get set. His motor and willingness to contribute in multiple areas made him an important piece for his team.
