Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
McMonigle was a player who continued to pop on day 1, and for the right reasons. He was one of the more consistent shooters on the day, and he knocked down his first two 3-pointers, which then had the defense chasing for the rest of the game. He did not settle; he was constantly moving, he hit a couple of backdoors, and finished in transition. It was also not all about scoring for him, which stands out for me as he added value with hustle plays, crashing the glass, getting loose balls, and turning defense into transition points. Nash appeared to be an unselfish, high-motor player whose energy and shooting translate directly to winning, and I am curious to see more of.

McMonigle really made a name for himself with how smooth and confident he plays the game. He’s one of those shooters you can’t afford to give even an inch of space to. His three point shot looks effortless and he’s comfortable knocking them down from anywhere around the arc. What’s impressive is without the ball he’s constantly moving, cutting into open lanes, or relocating to stretch the defense and create angles for teammates. He understands spacing and timing, which keeps the offense flowing and defenses scrambling. McMonigle’s blend of shooting, awareness and energy made him a reliable weapon every time he hit the floor, and it’s exactly why he’s earned his place among the ranked players

McMonigle has good size at this stage, capable scoring over oppoinetns off the catch. His size and confidence along the wing give him plenty of upside to space the floor. Most active following a kick out or popping a ball screen, the guard looks to get his looks in tight spaces. What sets apart McMonigle from many floor spacers in this class is the notable length, already capable of holding his own versus forwards and bigger guards.

A dependable perimeter shooter off the catch, McMonigle brings good size at 6’1 or 6’2 for a shooting guard. Already fairly strong at this stage, the guard held his own defensively, altering plenty of shots with quality contests.
