Mantel got on our radar earlier this Summer with his inside presence and the way that he controlled the paint. He’s a physical big man who uses his body, defends without fouling, and makes things difficult for opponents at times. We liked his decision-making and how he was able to secure a board and get it out to the outlet in a hurry. Any big man who can grab boards in bunches as well as hold their own defensively has a game that translates, and he’s a name that’s making his ranking debut and is one to follow.

Mantel controlled the paint with his physical play and relentless effort on the glass. Defensively, he secured rebounds and quickly got the ball out in transition getting his teammates opportunities with smart outlet passes that helped his team push the pace. On the offensive end, Mantel consistently crashed the boards, creating some second chance opportunities and he was able to convert around the rim. His ability to impact the game through rebounding and on the defensive end made him a force on the inside for his team throughout the tournament.
