Bellot is back for another season with CATS but boasts a slightly different skillset than last time around. Last season, he was the starting PG and was responsible for handling the ball against pressure and making decisions as a facilitator. Now, with more ball handlers on the roster, the 6-foot-3 senior guard can play a role more natural to him – off ball shooter and scorer with the ability to athletically attack closeouts and finish at the hoop. His defense has always been excellent, but the offensive feel seems to be coming along nicely, which is what has been missing in the past.

Bellot is a guard who has a great grasp of the game. He effortlessly finds others for scoring chances for others. Bellot is an active on ball defender and can turn defense to offense in a matter of seconds. Bellot was able to hit shots off the ball from three. He has a nice size at the lead guard spot. He stuffs the stat sheet and does a little bit of everything for his CATS squad. He is effective playing the two man game in the half-court and has no issues using ball screens. Bellot should be a priority for MM- programs.

Bellot was FEELING it from three against Wilbraham. The junior guard, as I’ve pointed out this season, has improved his shot greatly from the summer. He used to have a hitch in his release and didn’t get it off very quickly at all; now, he has a smooth jumper that he’s able to get off quickly and with very solid range. His shooting is getting to a place where it’s more consistent and reliable, which will pay dividends in his college recruitment moving forward. And, as always, Bellot brings a competitive spirit and high effort level on the defensive end, which I love.

Bellot always brings defensive pressure. He guards for 94 feet and makes life difficult for opposing point guards. Against Worcester, though, it was his second half scoring barrage that stood out. He made a few big threes late in the game and continues to impress me with how much he’s worked on his shot in the past year. I saw him this summer and he had a much slower, clunkier release. These days, his shot is quick and to the point, which bodes really well for his ability to be a solid shooter at the next level. If he continues to improve his perimeter shooting, he can pair that with his athleticism and length to be a really high level D1 guard.

Improved his game since last year. Handles the ball well and taking the edge off the other guards on the team, changing direction instantly. Highly efficient mid-range shooter even making difficult shots like a step back from deep. An above average passer helping get high percentage shots.

Bellot was pretty easily the best perimeter defender on the court Friday. He pressured all 94 feet for the entire game, showcasing some special lateral foot speed and really active hands throughout; he was causing problems for opposing guards ALL night. Offensively, the 6-foot-3 guard showed off his improved shot mechanics, although the threes weren’t falling. He’ll need to continue to make his shot more consistent to succeed at the next level, but it looks like he’s on his way to doing just that.

Bellot was a frequent playmaker getting paint touches at will when he was on the attack. He did a good job rebounding the ball and put himself in good spots on the floor to gather them. He was able to score from an array of different spots. He added 12 points in their loss to Link Prep (MO). Every time I see Desmond play the word that I remember his game is consistency, I feel like I know what he is going to bring to the table on a frequent basis. He flashed from the perimeter with two three pointers. Bellot’s play this weekend earned him an offer from University of San Diego.

Bellot was probably the most impressive player at the showcase, getting to the rim at will and finishing well above it with ease. He’s got a shifty handle and some really good touch in the paint, but the jumper from both the mid-range and three is a work in progress. Defensively, he’s incredibly versatile and can slide his feet with anyone. He’s also got excellent hands and is willing to mix it up in the paint. Definitely a D1 prospect, potentially at the highest level if he can figure out his stroke.

Bellot is an excellent driver to the rim with great ball handling ability and really solid touch – he’s the main cog of the Cats Academy’s offense. He also did a great job digging in on help and pressuring the ball defensively, coming up with multiple steals for fast break layups. The 2026 guard could receive high-major recruitment.
