Kandji looks like a different player compared to last season. The 6-foot-11 center is in way better shape, is running the floor far more consistently, and looks more poised on both ends of the floor. He had a number of impressive put-back finishes in this week’s open gym, and he set crushing screens and opened up the floor with his rolling gravity. Kandji’s hands have improved, too, which makes him a bigger threat out of the pick and roll and in the dunker spot.

Kandji, a forward out of CATS Academy in Massachusetts, checks in at #6 among the centers and #46 overall in this update. The 6’10” big is a space eater that really impressed this summer with his improved conditioning and physicality. He’s really good running the floor, tries to finish with power around the rim, and does a nice job of rolling hard out of ball screens. He plays with a high motor, gives great effort on the glass, and competes at a high level on the defensive end of the floor. His ability to protect the rim is noticable and makes opposing guards think twice about trying to finish deep in the paint.

Kandji, a forward out of CATS Academy in Massachusetts, is a massive presence in the paint. The 6’10” big has terrific length and a strong base, using both to his advantage in the post. He does a great job of timing up his shot blocking attemtps, detering opponents from scoring in the paint. He’s improved his conditioning, which in turn has allowed him to play with more athleticism and harder for longer spurts of time. Offensively, he’s a threat to score as a roller out of ball screens, can play with his back to the basket, and has really developed his secondary moves in the post. He’s another prospect that scholarship level schools should be tracking.
