I liked what Lunn did early in the weekend from a connector standpoint. Firstly, he brings great positional size and strength to where he can log minutes at the 2 or 3 and when some situations call for it, the 4 as well. Nothing was complicated with Lunn’s approach. He maintained spacing off the ball and put himself in the right situations for catch-and-shoots that he knocked down with efficiency. He’s instinctual when it comes to cutting and seems like anytime he decides to dive to the rim its at the perfect opportunity. When he beat his man off the dribble, Lunn didn’t waste time in getting to the rim in straight-line fashion for finishes. He was also a willing passer once the defense collapsed on his penetration.

Standing 6’3″-6’4″, Lunn will be categorized as a guard but with his put-together frame and ability to maintain leverage, he can realistically slide up and down 3-to-4 positions when needed. A willing junkyard type of guard, Lunn has taken clear strides in his development as a creator off the bounce where he consistently got into the lane, played off two and made perfect reads to cutting teammates for scores. Playing his high school ball in New Mexico, it’s been over six months since our last viewing of Lunn and it was good to see the obvious improvements in his agility, finishing with his weak hand and ability to keep the defense honest with his jumper when he has time and space.

put together a strong and well rounded performance in Volcano Vista’s win over Las Cruces. Lunn finished with 23 points while shooting 10 for 18 from the field, consistently finding ways to score throughout the game. He was also effective at the free throw line, knocking down 3 of his 4 attempts. In addition to his scoring, Lunn made his presence felt on the defensive end by creating opportunities for his team to get out and run. He recorded three steals and added a block, helping Volcano Vista generate transition offense. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor played a major role in the victory.

is a physical presence who gets to the rim at will. For his size, he has a very soft touch and consistently looks to attack the basket whenever the opportunity presents itself. His physicality impacts every part of the game offense, defense, and rebounding. David plays with great composure and never seems rushed, regardless of what the opposing defense throws at him. He knows how to get to his spots and make the most of his opportunities. His quick feet for his size allow him to be very effective on the defensive end as well. Look for David to make a major impact in his first-round matchup.
