New England Commitment Catch-Up (9/25)

The commitments keep rolling in throughout New England, as another seven prospects came off the board this week - including the region's top ranked prospect!   From high majors to high academic D3s and everything inbetween, this week's crop of commitments will play at all levels of college basketball.   Below are some notes on each of the seven prospects that came off the board this week.    Lunn, a wing out of CATS Academy in Massachusetts, came off the board with a commitment to the University at Buffalo. Last season's New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year, Lunn is a plus athlete with a college ready frame that does a nice job of getting to his spots as a scorer with limited dribbles. He bullies smaller defenders around the rim, is hard to guard when he gets downhill in transition, and has the ability to make tough shots late in the clock. On top of that, he's a physical defender that does a nice job of contributing on the glass. Lunn is a great fit for Buffalo and has the chance to develop into one of the top two-way wings in the MAC.     Pemberton, a guard out of Masters Academy International in Massachusetts, put an end to his recruitment with a commitment to Michigan State University. One of the nation's biggest stock risers this summer, Pemberton is as good as it gets at creating shots with the ball in his hands. He's ultra competitive, plays with a quick first step off the bounce, and has more athletic pop than he gets credit for. He scores it with creavity around the rim and has the ability to make plays for others in the half-court. Defensively, he competes at the point of attack, plays angles well, and creates turnovers at a high clip. Pemberton is a major recruiting win for Michigan State and profiles as a future all-league performer in the Big Ten.     Kumar, a guard out of the Beaver Country Day School in Massachusetts, announced his future plans with a commitment to Haverford College. Kumar is a true combo guard that has the ability to create for himself and for others with the ball in his hands. He does a nice job of finishing through contact at the rim and makes good decisions as a handler when playing in balll screens. Defensively, he competes physically at the point of attack and has good instincts off the ball that lead to plenty of steals and deflections. Kumar is a nice early get for Haverford and has a chance to carve out an early role in the Centennial Conference.     Zarzycki, a guard out of Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, finalized his plans for the next level with a commitment to Mercyhurst University. Zarzycki is an elite shot maker that hit on over 50% of his threes last winter and continued to take strides with his off the dribble game this summer. He moves well without the ball and knows how to use screens to create the space he needs to get his jumper off. He's an intelligent defender that is where he needs to be in rotations and has the ability to guard any spot on the perimeter. Zarzycki gives Mercyhurst a shooter they can build around and projects as one of the better floor spacers in the NEC over the coming years.     Owusu-Aduomi, a wing out of the Tilton School in New Hampshire, wrapped up his recruitment with a commitment to Dartmouth College. Owusu-Aduomi impressed in his first year in New England last winter, showing off a versatile offensive game and the ability to score it at all three levels. He's a big creator that can overpower smaller defenders or take bigger defenders off the bounce on the perimeter. He's got good athletic pop, can shoot the ball off the catch or bounce, and does a nice job of finishing over size in the paint. On the other end, he rebounds in traffic and does a nice job of keeping the ball in front of him on the perimeter. Owusu-Aduomi gives Dartmouth a terrific scorer on the wing and has the chance to develop into an all-league performer in the Ivy League.     Callahan, a guard out of the St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, came off the board when he committed to Siena University. Callahan is another prospect that saw his stock rise this spring and summer, proving to be one of the better two-way guards in the region. He's got good positional size, a high basketball IQ, doesn't get sped up, and plays with good physicality on both ends of the floor. He profiles as a jumbo creator with the ball in his hands that makes great reads out of ball screens and can score it at multiple levels. Defensively, he isn't afraid to take on tough assignments and is a really good rebounder for his position. Callahan rounds out Siena's backcourt in this class and could make an immediate impact for the Saints in the METRO Conference.     Hamblet, a forward out of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, made his future intentions known with a commitment to Washington University in St. Louis. Hamblet found his groove last winter as an inside-out scorer that has the ability to space the floor and stretch the defense with his shooting. He's a good athlete with plus length that has touch as a scorer around the rim and is capable of finishing with authority when he gets a runway. Defensively, he's a good shot blocker that should continue to grow as a rebounder with added strength. Hamblet feels like a perfect fit for WashU and has the ability to develop into a terrific two-way forward in the UAA.
