Despite a narrow loss, Lloyd made as big a statement as anybody on the day, taking advantage of the stage in front of a slew of D1 coaches up to the high-major level and turning in a dominant two-way interior performance. Helping engineer an early run, Lloyd was impactful running the floor for early offense, timing things well to give his guards space to operate before swooping in for emphatic finishes well above the rim. He was equally, if not more, impactful on the defensive end where he blocked shots at the rim both in and out of his area while also showing the ability to contain guards on switches before challenging shots out to the perimeter. He’s still refining some of the finer elements of his game, but Lloyd shows flashes of potential that will intrigue coaches at any level of college basketball.

Lloyd has proved to an incredible addition for the Perkiomen School and the Mid-Atlantic ISTC was his breakout event. I knew this former St. Andrew’s School (DE) big man was talented, but I was not aware of the depth of his skills. Lloyd is an athletic, powerful, and bouncy prospect. When you combine those assets with his surprising rim-to-rim speed, you get the rare big fella who thrives in transition. Lloyd capped several fast breaks by catching a lob or receiving a bounce pass in stride and then flushing on an opponent’s head. Lloyd produced points in the half-court via dives to the rim, drop steps out of post ups and offensive put backs. On defense, Lloyd was an intimidating rim protector. A host of college programs including Bucknell and Delaware were impressed with Lloyd’s outstanding play over the weekend and sent him an offer.

This former St. Andrew’s School big man was widely considered one of the top prospects in Delaware’s Class of 2025. He is an athletic, powerful, and tenacious interior force who has a habit of finishing with authority. Llyod also possesses the speed and agility to grab a defensive rebound, throw a precise outlet pass and then sprint to fill a wing on the fast break for a lay-up. Last season, Llyod frequently posted double-doubles. Included in that list was a impressive performance of 18 points and 10 rebounds against Odessa. At the other end of the court, Lloyd is a shot blocking and rebounding force.

Lloyd Jr’s maturation since arriving at St. Andrew’s is inspiring. No longer a baby deer, he maximized his physical tools as the backbone of the Saints offense and their anchor on defense. His presence was always felt, whether he was dunking over everyone or beating shots off the backboard. Lloyd Jr exerted his will within the paint, never taking a play off. And the best part about it is that he still has room to improve. High academic D1s should be in hot pursuit.

Although he’s one of the top prospects in Delaware and on a top UAA team, Lloyd is still a bit of an unknown in the region. He tries to swat everything on defense and dunk every time he gets a post up opportunity or is rolling to the rim on offense, no matter who is on him. However, he shows touch at the foul line and from the mid-range as well.
