As the season gets underway, I want to highlight ten guys who I am excited to see in action this winter. This list has a lot of guys who have either flashed during the AAU season, been stock-risers on a constant ascent, or have some high potential and unique skillsets. Look out for these guys and check back in for updates on them once we get into the thick of the hoop season.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Stokes is the top-rated prospect in the nation and joins probably the most talented team in the state. I can't wait to see how he helps elevate the guys around him, what sort of matchups we see him in across their Metro games, and just how impactful this versatile wing will be this season.

Klassen-Matuska is a kid a lot of schools should be monitoring this winter. At 6-foot-10, he has the ability to be a factor both around the paint, blocking shots, racking up rebounds, and scoring, but also has shown the dynamism to play from the perimeter and knock down shots in the midrange. I want to see just how he asserts himself early in the season and how far he can lead this Ballard squad.

Trotenya has been a big riser over the last two years, and from what he's shown over the spring and summer, it looks like his stock is only continuing to rise. He'll be the main scorer/creator at Kennewick and could challenge Richland's [player_tooltip player_id='1685503' first='Landen' last='Northrop'] as top scorer in the MCC this winter. He'll be another kid colleges should be watching closely and will have his hands all over their games on a nightly basis.

After several seasons alongside both Nirvaan Misra and Beckham King, Christofilis now takes the reins at Seattle Prep and will lead a new cast of guys into the season. He had a strong AAU season with Idaho Select, and it should be fun to see him work with new Panthers' big man, [player_tooltip player_id='2140818' first='Jack' last='Thompson'], as well as their emerging junior wing, [player_tooltip player_id='2140837' first='Kellen' last='Matt'].

Heigert is another big riser over the last couple of years who has the potential to take it up another notch this season. At 6-foot-7, he's a kid who can torch defenses from three, work from the perimeter or midpost, and will lead a Burlington-Edison team that should make some noise in the 2A.

Lake Washington made a big push last season and showed they should be a team to watch this winter that could make a run. [player_tooltip player_id='2144895' first='Jayden' last='Hunt'] was a big reason why they've had such success, but Cummings is the other guy who has really helped elevate them. He is one of the top shooters in the state, and continues to grow as a defender and shot-blocker. His versatility and ability to stretch the floor will be key for the Kangs this season.

Jorgenson was on a tear this spring before breaking his leg. He should make his return in the early part of the season and could be the next star out of Lynden. He's another kid with some size at 6-foot-7 who has the ability to play from different levels. He has improved across the board, from outside shooting to attacking downhill, and showing he can defend at a high level. Look out for Jorgenson and Lynden to make another run this winter.

The Cedarcrest big man was a revelation for us at the Prep Hoops Expo this fall, and with his low-post game and high work-rate, he's a guy we are looking forward to seeing this winter. He could be a big riser this winter with his array of post moves, toughness by the cup, and grinder personality on the floor.

Toby is a point guard who has had Lummi as a constant contender in the 1B for the last few years. They placed sixth in 2024 and took home the chip last season. Now that he has Monroe transfer, [player_tooltip player_id='2380117' first='Chayce' last='Waite-Kellar'], Toby has a legit big man to work with and showcase his playmaking and decision-making. Look out for that pair this winter as Lummi goes for back-to-back titles.

Bowman showed some real physicality and ability around the rim in spurts last season at O'Dea. Seeing him across the summer and fall, he's only gotten stronger and more athletic, and should be a key cleanup man and finisher for the Irish this winter. He's just 6-foot-6, but has the strong base and explosiveness that will make him a big player around the rim.
