Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the top shooters in the state, Northrop put together another huge scoring season at Richland, culminating in a 4A title for the Bombers. He showed just how difficult a matchup he can be at the state tournament, rising up over smaller defenders to bury shot after shot, and showing the willingness to hit from way back if the defense didn’t extend. His shooting ability and size have landed him two recent offers to D2 Fort Lewis (CO), and D2 Kentucky Wesleyan (KY).

Northrop came out hot, hitting two threes right over defenders in the early part of the opening quarter. He ended with five threes and had some backbreaking shots right over the top of tight defense that just made it seem West Valley would not close the gap. He also finished a couple of and-ones inside, and was a threat throughout the game with 16 first-half points and 17 in the second.

He’s also leading the MCC in assists per game at 4.9 per game, and has contributed across pretty much every category with 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game too.

He’s a deadeye shooter from deep but he started out their win over Emerald Ridge attacking the paint and making great reads to score or dish. Later in the third, he started to heat up from deep and then later went back to working inside with a smaller defender on him. He also had a big tip-in late to extend their lead to eight. Northrop finished with 29 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
